McCain in Maine Stays Mainly in the Pain
Over on the Republican side of Maine, there's an even more decisive winner of the caucuses.
And it's not McCain.
It's not Huckabee, either.
It's Mitt Romney. With 68% of precincts reporting, the politidroid, who announced earlier this week that he's uninstalling himself from the race, is winning Maine's Republican caucuses with 52% to McCain's 21%.
Huckabee, with a slim 6%, is trailing in fourth place.
Fourth place? Am I doing the math wrong? No. Ron Paul is in third, with 19% of the vote.
But it's not all bad news for Mike Huckabee; he's still leading over a tin can full of nightcrawlers, which — despite a platform founded on rural populism and better fishing conditions — has been having difficulty gaining traction with the unpredictable Maine voters.
Update: I let my typing fingers get ahead of my thinking brain; the Maine GOP caucuses were last week.

Oops…the Maine republican caucus was held on February 2 well before Mitt dropped out. It would have been funny though….
