General Petraeus Goes to Washington

So, some guy named General David Petraeus, Commanding Officer of the Multi-National Forces in Iraq is doing all this talking in the Senate today. Apparently, there's a big war happening over or something. And in Iraq, too. (Is this thing on?)
Anyway, so, all the presidential candidates are getting their chances to speak with the good general, and you'd better believe that everyone of them is going in there with an agenda.
What's McCain's agenda? Apparently, it's to make sure that you know that he doesn't know the difference between a Shi'ite and Sunni…
MCCAIN: Do you still view al Qaeda in Iraq as a major threat?
PETRAEUS: It is still a major threat, though it is certainly not as major a threat as it was say 15 months ago.
MCCAIN: Certainly not an obscure sect of the Shi'ites overall?
PETREAUS: No.
MCCAIN: Or Sunnis or anybody else.
Nope. Not an obscure sect of the Shi'ites or the Sunnis or the Moonies or the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Seattle Seahawks or the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players or any other group of people, places or things in the world. Let's just be absolutely inclusive and clear about this. Al Qaeda is not an obscure sect of any collective noun.
Good. Just so we got that clear.
In all honesty, I feel like the press has been a bit unfair with McCain regarding his lack of understanding of the different sects of Islam. How many people do you know who truly know the difference between the Sunnis and the Shi'ites? Come on, he's a regular guy; regular guys don't know about stuff like that.
It's not like he's running for president or anything.

And this bozo wants to be our next commander-in-chief? Jesus H. Christ!
