Elizabeth Edwards' Surprise Perspectivement of Hillary Clinton
This morning Elizabeth Edwards went on Good Morning America to announce that she favors Hillary Clinton's health care plan over Barack Obama's, but that absolutely doesn't mean she's endorsing Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama.
It especially doesn't mean that her husband, Handsome John Edwards, is favoring, backing, supporting or endorsing Hillary Clinton. Or Barack Obama…
Edwards said her husband had been in close contact with Clinton's and Obama's campaigns, but was offering "perspective" more than an endorsement.
Great. Now, in addition to a string of sensationalized celebrity endorsements, we can look forward to several more months of sensationalized celebrity "perspectives" on this campaign.
I'm really looking forward to Heidi Montag's "perspective" on John McCain's foreign policy strategy. I bet it goes something like this: "OMG!!"

Obama's is the milder & more realistic plan.
Elizabeth Edwards is the only public voice to to say there IS a difference between Hillary Clinton's and Barak Obama's proposals for health care. This important point has been obscured because almost to a one, the news coverage has described their plans as "essentially the same."
The analysts of the Democratic debates between the two candidates mostly failed to note the difference. Obama's plan does not provide universal coverage. Studies have already proven that the premise of his plan is flawed: even when people can buy health insurance they will decide not to do so. Large medical bills are the number one reason individuals file bankruptcy.
Elizabeth Edwards is smart, knows the important issues and picks her battles. We are lucky to have her.
Getting health care for Americans is on her bucket list I guess. It's a laudable goal, and I applaud her efforts to focus attention on this important issue for the American people.

"But then why didn’t he endorse Obama after dropping out?
According to a Democratic strategist unaligned with any campaign but with knowledge of the situation gleaned from all three camps, the answer is simple: Obama blew it. Speaking to Edwards on the day he exited the race, Obama came across as glib and aloof. His response to Edwards’s imprecations that he make poverty a central part of his agenda was shallow, perfunctory, pat. Clinton, by contrast, engaged Edwards in a lengthy policy discussion. Her affect was solicitous and respectful. When Clinton met Edwards face-to-face in North Carolina ten days later, her approach continued to impress; she even made headway with Elizabeth. Whereas in his Edwards sit-down, Obama dug himself in deeper, getting into a fight with Elizabeth about health care, insisting that his plan is universal (a position she considers a crock), high-handedly criticizing Clinton’s plan (and by extension Edwards’s) for its insurance mandate."

Mrs. Edwards and the same ol" politics of yesterday. Just last year she was pounding Mrs. Clinton on this same issue saying: "Clinton''s new health care plan is a virtual copy of her husband''s, with one difference being Clinton would invite lobbyists to the negotiating table."
Also:"She''s wrong on how it is we get universal health care – and her own experience should have taught her that."
