Jon Stewart: Barack Obama Makes Elitism the New Liberalism
Jon takes a crack at the fallout of Barack's recent comments about Western Pennsylvanians:
Is elitism a problem for you? It's not like Americans have ever held a superiority complex.
PERMALINK:

e·lit·ism
–noun
1. practice of or belief in rule by an elite.
2. consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group.
Honestly, everyone is an elitist. How often do you hear red state republicans saying "America is the greatest country int the world." Like Jon said the elite is good. Don't we want a president who is educated? It's bad enough our current president can barely speak English.
"everyone is an elitist"?
Everyone thinks they are innately superior to others, eh? Well, I can tell you are mildly retarded, and that I am superior to you… so crap, I guess you may be right!?
This Obama character seeks to steal elitism from those to whom God gave it–our aristocracy! Let's join Lord Limbaugh, Lady Ann and all the Lords and Nobles in re-claiming the throne for the House of Nixon by turning out these pretenders to elitism!
Restore the Monarchy!
God Save the King!
Death to the Rebel Subjects!
I've been watching Jon for a long time and suddenly he turned into one of those biased news reporters from MSN and CNN. I'm from Western PA and what Obama said is offensive. He spoke as if us small town people cannot formulate our own thoughts and opinions – that we are caught up into some kind of fascist movement. Instead of ripping Obama a new one (which the old Jon would have done) he turned Obama's offensive comments into an anti-Hillary jab. Jon used to call them as he saw them and he wouldn't let anyone off the hook. That is what I liked about him. I haven't missed an episode in years. But anymore, he has turned his show into an Obama campaign. Today marks the last day I watch the Daily Show. I may as well watch MSN or CNN. It's just as humorous, fake, and biased.
How can Obama be an elitist when they make beautiful reggae music about him? Reggae is the music of the common people not elitist.

Hillary drinks beer and chases it with shots? Okay, I know who I’m voting for now. Boilermakers for everyone!
Well I have the perfect line that will further endear Obama to the common man. It is courtesy of Mel Brooks' Bazing Saddles."You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know…….Morons". That should help him with his quest for Camelot.
Jon Stewart seems to be transitioning from satirist/comic to demagogue – it must be a comfort to him to feel so sure he is 100% right. This video dissing Western Pennsylvanians and Hillary was neither amusing nor enlightening.
I admire Obama but no longer am I the ardent fan I once was of Jon Stewart.
There is a difference between being elite and being elitist. Both Obama and Clinton are elite, obviously, by virtue of their education, intelligence, their connections, and their money. But you can be elite without being elitist. And Obama strikes me as less elitist than Clinton, because of his work as an activist in Chicago, his experience as an African American. He is less of a Washington insider, seems less hell-bent on power. (He's obviously ambitious, but somehow has a softer demeanor.) But both of their political platforms conflict with an elitist position.
OK, let's all calm and think this through. We have three candidates and as far as I know, they are all human beings. They have all made gaffes in their campaigns. I heard Obama's comments and had to ask myself…Is this true? And growing up in the mountains of N.C. I can tell you that I have seen some serious clinging in my day. The thing I did notice from this is that Obama did not back down from what he said. He did apologize for any offense as he did not mean offense. So you can forgive him or not. Just like you can forgive Hillary for the dodging bullets comment or John McCain for not knowing just which terrorists the Iranians are actually training. Humans – all three. There are no robot presidents on the horizon. Finally, and this is gonna sound shallow, I'd like to see Barack elected president so that I can finally say … America is an Obamanation! That is soooo choice!
