Michelle Obama on The Colbert Report

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

Michelle Obama appeared on The Colbert Report tonight and faced accusations of being an elitist, questions about her own presidential aspirations, and children's drawings of her husband.

Do you think her performance was enough to win her husband the Colbert bump, or would you prefer to see the candidate himself make an appearance?

  1. Michelle is an impressive woman. I would have liked to have heard her speak a little longer. And I can understand why her comments were a bit more guarded than usual, as the media seem to enjoy parsing everyone's words these days. A Colbert bump from her appearance? Absolutely.

  2. Michelle was very good, especially with the drawings. But I'm still waiting for the Grit-Off. I was promised a Grit-Off, and until Barack Obama and Stephen Colbert engage in a televised display of the competitive offing of grits, I will *not* be satisfied! My bitterness over these repeatedly unfulfilled expectations for a Grit-Off-A-Thon has lead me to cling to other sources of comfort in my life, like occasionally having sex with my husband instead of constantly blowing him off in favor of watching Stephen.

Is that what you want, Colbert Report? Is that what you want, Barack Obama and the Democratic Party? Is this your new message of "hope"? Is this what you really want to tell all of the newly inspired youth whose political consciousness you've inflamed with visions of a new American Dream? Now, after we've come so far, all you can say is "Forget about the grits. Forget about your mutual, burning obsessions with elective politics and political satire. Allow yourselves to grow old and dead inside. Go back to f*cking your husband."

Shame on you, Barack Obama and Stephen Colbert! You know better! You know that America needs a Grit-Off now, more than at any time in our troubled history. Yet you sit idly by and let no Grit-Off happen. And we haven't even begun to discuss your lack of action on putting together a Cheesesteak Chase. Typical.

  3. Here's what I saw–She looked a little angry, a little tense. She did all right keeping her opinions contained and seemed to be forcing herself to stay controlled. Gee whiz, I can't wait til all that canned anger spews after the inauguration. Champagne stoppered campaign acid.

  6. She is a giant! She also seems a little tough. She seems like the kind of woman that no one tells what to do, and if you piss her off she will kick your ass literally. I think that the Obama's are elitists who think that this country OWES them something. I think they pander to the lower class blacks to get their vote, playing the race card, making them think that this is a predestined mission that a black man make it to the White House regardless of qualifications. I think the US is ready for a woman or a Black man to be president. I just don't think that Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton are good choices. He may be ready in a few years, but I want someone more accomplished in the White House, what is a Democrat to do.

  8. all these negative comments re: Barack and Michelle Obama … was the O'Reilly Factor in repeats last night or what. Hmmmm yes she's tough (raised in South Chicago, earned her way in to Princeton and …), she's probably too much of what is that "dirty" word you all keep throwing around … oh yeah "elitist" to kick anyone's ass and way to genuine to lie about dodging sniper fire (which may well have on the Southside) … what is a democrat to do???? Seems pretty obvious to me! Vote for Obama!

  9. I kept expecting her to break into song. A few lines from "Ease on Down The Road" from "The Wiz". Or "Stop! In The Name of Love!" Wasn't she in "Dream Girls"? But I have to admire her testes for going toe-to-toe with Colbert. Can I say "testes"? Is that better than b*lls?
