Bruce Springsteen Endorses Barack Obama as The Boss

POSTED BY: CubbyChaser

Believe it or not, Bruce Springsteen is supporting a a Democrat for president

Like most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest.

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President. He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where "…nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone."

Why, that's a lyric from a song! I think. It's not a song I know. But it looks like a lyric from a song. I would have maybe considered a different line of lyrics from a different song, though. A song I at least have heard of. Probably something from the '70s. Like, E Street Shuffle. Yeah! Man, that album is awesome!

A lot of people prefer Born to Run, and I'm not saying anything bad about Born to Run. It's a fantastic album unto itself, but I'm still an E Street Shuffle guy.

And, quite frankly, I've gotten tired of Born to Run over the years. Everyone always just assumed that Born to Run was going to waltz to the top of my Springsteen album list. And I thought it would, too, for a while. But something about E Street Shuffle represents change for me. I feel like it speaks to the America I've envisioned in my blog posts for the past 35 months. It tackles nuanced and complex problems. It's an album in which "…nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone."

One thing's for sure: both E Street Shuffle and Born to Run are both waaaaay better than Tunnel of Love. I mean, no contest, right?

What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Bruce Springsteen is supporting somebody for something. That's cool. I like Bruce Springsteen.

After the terrible damage done over the past eight years, a great American reclamation project needs to be undertaken. I believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to lead that project and to lead us into the 21st Century with a renewed sense of moral purpose and of ourselves as Americans.

Over here on E Street, we're proud to support Obama for President.

Be that as it may, over on K Street, I believe they feel differently.

  1. I can see Inaugural night now…instead of the Clinton's Fleetwood Mac replay we'll get Springsteen singing with a cameo from Jeremiah Wright "BORN IN THE USA,I WAS BORN IN THE GOD DAMN USA NOW"

SHIP WITH ARMS FOR ZIMBABWE CLEARED BY SOTUHT AFRICA CUSTOMS

A Chinese ship carrying a consignment of weapons destined for Zimbabwe was cleared through customs at the South African port of Durban on Wednesday, police and transport officials said.

"There are arms on the vessel and the ship is on the outer anchorage of the port and it's been docked here since April 14," Nicholas Gunther of the police explosives unit in Durban told South Africa's SAPA news agency.

A transport spokesman later confirmed that the "An Yue Jiang", which was initially denied entry for having incorrect paperwork, had been cleared through customs.

International sanctions imposed by Western countries against Zimbabwe include a ban on weapons sales to the country.

In February a report adopted by the foreign affairs commission of the European Parliament urged the European Union to put pressure on China to stop stop delivering weapons to African countries, naming Zimbabwe in particular.

Zimbabwe is currently gripped by tensions resulting from the failure by the electoral commission to release the results of the March 29 presidential election.
