Howard Dean Makes Funnyish Joke About Dem Primaries
Looks like DNC Chairman Howard Dean is brushing up on his joke-telling skills in advance of his upcoming appearance on the Daily Show…
Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean said Monday that either Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama must drop out of the Democratic presidential race after the June primaries in order to unify the party by the convention and win the election in November…
"Either of these candidates, if it's time for them to go, they'll know it and they will go," Dean said. "They don't need any pushing from me. You know when to get in and you know when to get out. That's just part of the deal."
That's a pretty good one for a non-professional comedian, but it lacks believability. Sure, a well-crafted joke often touches upon the absurd, but if it's too far removed from reality, there's nothing for the audience to latch onto.
All in all, not a bad attempt for a person from Vermont.

"You know when to get in and you know when to get out. That's just part of the deal."
That's what she said.
The FUNNY part of Dean's comment is that Hillary won't EVER GIVE UP-she'll pull every string, bully every superdelegate, call in every political favor, and stoop even lower than a limbo stick resting on the GROUND.
When I first read this, I thought you were suggesting that Dr. Dean was making a subtle (ish) play on the crowd chant from the first Clinton/Gore campaign tour – the call-and-response "What time is it?" "It's time for them to go!"
Then I realized that very, very few people would *ever* use the words "Clinton/Gore Tour" the way I did (Louisville '92, baby!). I also realized that I am a complete dorkwad.
So, I guess Dean isn't making with the campaign slogan pun here. But you're right, the absurdity of his suggestion is ~almost~ funny.
