Here She Comes, Miss American Hillary Clinton
Yesterday Hillary Clinton, fighting on after Tuesday's North Indiarolina primaries, made a stop at Sheperd University in West Virginia.
It was a tough moment for the New York senator, who lost North Carolina by a lot and won Indiana by very little. So maybe the politics thing just won't work out for her. At least she has a fallback option: the beauty pageant circuit…
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's greatest gift may be her ability to remain upright and smiling as chaos and chagrin surround her.
Astonishingly, Clinton managed to remain both upright and smiling — she didn't fall down once! — even when some members of the audience began yelling, catcalling and heckling her. Kaye Lani Rae Rafko would be so proud.
All the while, a smile was fixed on Mrs. Clinton's perfectly made-up face — not a hair was out of place — and she betrayed only an occasional glimmer of recognition of the exceedingly narrow straits she must now navigate.
Like the runway that leads to the swimsuit competition.

Deb Rose-one man had little or no experience but had the best teacher in the world(Aristotle) when he began to conquer the world-Alexander the Great.
One man had no education or qualification other than being the bastard son of Rollo, the first Duke of Normandy-William the Conqueror.
One man was self-educated and became a lawyer, who later successfully ran for president-Abraham Lincoln.
I believe that Barack Hussein Obama is another man who'll achieve greatness.
History has even more examples than these.
WOW! So now Obama is in the same league as Alexander the Great & Lincoln! Let’s just see how those comparisons hold up.
Alexander was a king and a descendent of military leaders on both sides of his family. He became king at 20 and had conquered most of the known world by his death at age 33. (BTW, while he was known for his military genius, he was equally as well known for his ruthlessness.) By comparison, Obama is not a king, did not come from a long line of political leaders, was doing drugs around the age that Alexander became king, and has shown no particular “genius” to date (other than fooling the gullible that he is something he is not)!
Lincoln won his first seat in the Illinois legislature at age 25 and served 4 terms. He won his seat in House of Representatives at age 37 and served 1 term. During his 23 year law career, he worked on over 5,100 cases. He then was instrumental in forming the Republican Party and served as a US Senator for two years before becoming president.
In sharp contrast, Obama did not win his first seat in the Illinois Senate until he was 35. He won his seat in the US Senate as of result of the Republican frontrunner dropping out and being replaced by Alan Keyes, who is widely known for his ultraconservative views and was a resident of Marilyn, who only moved to Illinois to run for the Senate. Since in the Senate, he has voted “present” more than he has voted for or against a bill. His career in the Senate has been lackluster to say the least.
So, yes, there are extraordinary people who show real genius at what they do from the beginning, without years of experience. But Obama has shown NO evidence of being one of them. Einstein flunked Algebra and Mozart was deaf!. Those facts are about as germane to the topic as the successes of Alexander & Lincoln.
I'm a Lewis Black fan…Maybe he could do a "Root of all Evil" segment:
1) " Blog Wars versus the Iraq War"? or 2)"Political Blogging versus Personal Relationships"?
Number one: Neither seems to have an end
Number two: Would people act & react the same in person?
Personally, I've done my share of blogging during this primary. But exhaustion has taken hold. I think I'm almost as tired as the candidates. I must admit that blogging is addicting…maybe I need rehab! I just can't force myself to stop!!!
Peace, everyone & God Bless America!
Deb, Deb, Deb…you just don't get it do you, even with all your education. The fact that those men, and others, who rose from obscurity into positions of power refutes your original premise that you have to have experience.
That is what you've been touting about Hillary ever since you began posting here, isn't? And yesterday(May 9), using science to back up your claims about Hillary?
It's not just the actions during their times. It's the fact they were charismatic, astute, and yes, bordering genius.
Obama has those traits, which sadly, Hillary does not. After all it was BILL who was the Rhodes scholar, not she.
The decisions in her campaign were HERS, and therefor,
claims of 30 years of political experience should have yielded much more political savvy than she has exhibited.
Thusly, I conclude Hillary is full of shit, and is just like Dubya in that regard.
deb rose, the presidency, and the choices the president has to make, are never the same! So Hillary had thirty years experience before she voted for the war, okay so much for that experience, and now of course she realizes she made a mistake and what did she learn? That all her experience meant nothing at that moment, that a vote for a war at a precise moment in time, in line with a specific set of circumstances is not science, the political brain must act in accordance with what lies before them, not behind them, obama thinks in real time, hillary is too busy worrying about the political repercussions of her actions to evaluate the actual results. There is no formula to go, there are no two problems the same, really, the solution to the future does not always lie in the past.
Daringtexan: Those men you cited did rise from obscurity to power & fame (well not Alexander, he was a king by birth, however his military accomplishments were extraordinary). However, Obama has shown NO such genius or even a glimmer of genius to date. Name one thing he has DONE, not SAID, that sparks of genius? He talks the talk, but I have yet to see where he walks the walk. Given ample opportunity to vote on various bills, your “genius” voted “present”! He didn’t vote for the bill to limit the amount of interest credit card companies can charge, because he didn’t think the cap was low enough. So his solution was to hope another bill was presented that would be low enough and in the meantime let companies charge whatever they want! Wow, that is brilliant! Someone with experience and who is not afraid of actually DOING something, and not just talking about it, would have voted to put the limit in place and work to get another bill that would limit the interest to what he/she felt was an acceptable level. If Obama was in the Senate at the time, he probably would have voted “present” on the Iraq war as well. He doesn’t have the experience to know how to get legislation through, doesn’t want to take a stand, has been far less than honest & forthright about his background, some of which does not exactly shout “presidential material”, and has DONE nothing to indicate that he is the gifted, brilliant person that doesn’t need experience to be exceptional at what he does.
Umber: Yes, every presidency is different and yes, every president must deal with the problems in front of him/her. However, as George Santayana, a notable philosopher, said "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Those easily swayed by words, who didn’t see that the actions did not match the speech, gave us George W.! He campaigned as an outsider, stating that he was different than the “Washington crowd”. He was different alright! He also claimed to be a “uniter, not a divider” and was the most divisive president in recent history. Just because someone wants to change things from the current situations, doesn’t mean he has the ability to do so, nor does it mean that the change will be a positive one. George W. talked of change as well and he definitely changed things from the Clinton administration, but it certainly wasn’t positive! With the state in which George W. will be leaving us, it is no time to gamble on someone without a proven record of success. If a company is on the verge of bankruptcy because of the incompetence of the previous CEO, do they hire someone with no experience???? NO! If you are on trial for your life, do you hire some guy that’s been practicing for a couple of years with hardly any trial experience??? NO! Every company is different and every trial is different, but the chances of success in both cases increase significantly if the person has a lot of similar experience. Do you want a “talented” intern performing your heart or brain surgery, or the guy whose done lots of that type of surgery with a proven success record? When your life, your company, or your country is on the line, it is no time to risk it all on a Johnny-come-lately with a good spiel and no experience.
His speech on racism in this country over the flap about Rev. Wright. Hillary can't whip out a speech like that the night before, unless she makes her speech-writers do it.
I forgot to say that Obama wrote it himself.
So, Deb, what has Hillary actually done that marks HER as a genius? for good, that is, not evil.
And remember, it can't be something SOMEONE ELSE DID.
Here's the difference between you and me, Deb.
We both see some strange looking rocks as we walked along a path. We stoop to pick them up-you reach for the one with gold veins, I reach for the grayish-black one.
You selected fools' gold, I picked up a diamond in the rough. My diamond isn't so lovely now, but he will be spectacular when he's president.
Wrong about Mozart-he was NOT deaf. That was Beethoven. Those are FACTS. Now that I've corrected you AGAIN, leave off.
You've shown yourself to be ignorant now.
