Foolish Detroit News Lady Can't Take Barack Obama's Compliment
This just in via Wonkette: Hope-filled handsome man Barack Obama strolled through a Chrysler stamping plant in Detroit today, and a local girl reporter had the total balls to ask him what he was going to do to save autoworkers' jobs. (Seems like a weird time to ask such a question, no? Maybe she was on the rag.)
As for Obama's reply, well, we'll go with the phrase that's been coined: SweetieGate.
Listen, sweetie, when Barack Obama calls you sweetie, you just hush your pretty mouth and smile. Do you want Change, or do you not?
(For extra credit, watch the full WXYZ news clip here. Definitely on the rag!)

There will be doughnuts for everyone when Obama is elected? Awesome.
I find all of this commentary fascinating. When Rep. Geoff Davis called Obama "a boy" in early April Obama campaign spokesman, Bill Burton (and MANY of you!), said Davis was being "condescending and [engaging in a]personal attack."
Now that Obama has mispoken by using a word that connotes sexist thinking everyone expects us to jump on the bandwagon that says "hey…its just a word…what's the big deal…why all the fuss?"
You Obamabots are truly hypocrites. No wonder the DNC is being split into two. We need to have the same rules for everyone here!!!!
Sexism is NOT a lesser evil than RACISM…or ageism…or homophobia…or…
Most women in america would love to be called sweetie by Barack (many men too!). Finally, a president that measures up in the sex symbol category.
Get over it girlfriend, just save that phone number and show up at the whitehouse when Michele is on a worldwide charity tour. Look what poor Monica had to settle for.
Western states are suffering from labor shortages. Oil fields of Colorado, North Dakota, Montana lack welders and formen not to mention the need for workers on surrounding farms, and in cities such as Williston or Sidney. Mabye what Obama should do is let Detroit crash so the workers move west.
I guess I would have to say that his one fatal error was the he forgot to say PS I love you.
After watching the clip I can't help but wonder what all of the interest is about. While we would all probably like an opportunity to ask the candidates questions that are personally relevant to us, that's not realistic. Calling out questions to anyone when they're in the midst of a conversation with someone else is not an effective method for communication. I thought that Obama's response was courteous. It was like a parent quieting a child who is interrupting a conversation. As for the 'sweetie'? I'm guessing that it was an attempt to be as gentle as possible in the brush off. It was a kinder option than completely ignoring her or sending security to hustle her out!
More people should call eachother sweetie IMO. Would probably make the world a better place!
To gaypastor-
Well, sugar, when the 'sweetie' is being bitchy and rude, what do yall call each other when it's between gays?
And someone calling any black man 'boy' is the height of condescending racism, or haven't you ever read anything Tennessee Williams ever wrote??? Damn yankee.
He knows better than to call her a Cracker. N ot that he ever would. He knows that she wouldn't be able to take the joke.
To treat a reporter like a "child interrupting a conversation" for asking a relevant question is courteous on what planet?
