Barack Obama Gets Pseudo Tough, Sort of Defends Wife
Michelle Obama may be an America-hater, but she's Barack Obama's America-hater, so you can just back off, man!
After the Tennessee GOP released a video to YouTube that criticizes Michelle's comment that "For the first time [her] my adult life, [she is] really proud of [her dirty, filthy] country," Barack decided that ABC's "Good Morning America" would be as good a place as any to hurl an empty, unenforcible half-threat…
"The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said. "If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family"…
"Whoever is in charge of the Tennessee GOP needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign they want to run, and I think that's true for everybody, Democrat or Republican," Obama said in the ABC interview, adding: "These folks should lay off my wife."
I'm sure that the Tennessee GOP is now thoroughly ashamed.

Can anyone explain to me what exactly was wrong with Mrs. Obama's comments?
She doesn't subscribe to the blind, unconditional, flag-waving brand of false patriotism that has made such a resurgence over the last several years. Why is that a problem?
This is a republic, a government of the people. True patriotism does not lie in blind loyalty to Washington, but in loyalty to the people, to ourselves, and to our own ideals.
In my opinion, Michelle Obama has shown herself to be a true patriot, while those who have attacked her comments have proven themselves to be little more than cattle, for whom patriotism merely means following the herd.
Good point on Hillary's outspokeness, flasunbum. Somehow, she never seems to me a First Lady, though she was one. She did change the archetype, though, I think for the worse.
Katherine,
What are you bashing Michelle? She is far from a snob. And furthur more, Sentor Obama is not threatening you.. its not about you… he was refering to McCain and his crew and he was not threatening them he as merely saying that he found their comments to be unexceptable (which they were) and that they should lay of his wife. I am so glad we have a President (elect) that stands up for his family. It shows character and how he well he will treat others.
Can't say the same for the Clintons… Bill screwed around on his wife… more than once…
Its about character for me. Senator Obama could just as easy talk about Bills run offs at the mouth and his adultry or McCains botox using e-beauty pagent wanna be wife, but he doesn't. He has class and always takes the high road.
Its about uniting the country… About people holding their government responsible for their actions Its about getting involved instead of sitting idle and then passing judegemet later. Its about us not them! Something HRC and her supporters haven't figured out yet.
Look at the supporters backing HRC… they spew nothing but hatred…. they don't represent the true masses. Its time to move forward and embrace a new way of doing things.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
Together we can move mountains….
YES WE CAN!
I wanna know what their views are on doing Fat Chicks! That could be the deal breaker you know. Do a exit poll on that one.

I've always been proud of my country. I'm proud that even with its problems, it has always been a country that worked toward fixing its problems. I'm glad I've never lived in a communist country or one controled by dictators. I'm proud that my country believes in equal opportunity, proud that I have the opportunity to vote for whom I want to represent my country. As poor as I was as a child and as hard as I have had to work to become middle class, I just don't remember a time when I considered this country "mean."
Do I worry about a potential first lady who has obviously enjoyed the freedoms this country has had to offer who takes such a long time to feel proud of her country? One who has obviously had some pretty good opportunities cast her way (along with hard work as well I'm sure) to become a lawyer, a successful business woman, and a potential first lady? One who lives in a pretty nice neighborhood and has the financial security she enjoys? Yes, it worries me. I can't imagine that it took her his long to be proud of her country. What if, as first lady, this country doesn't live up to her expectations? Is this going to be another white house embarrasement? Seems to me that those who critisize the Clinton's for their powerhouse dual political careers are pretty much getting the same package, only packaged differently with Mr. and Mrs. Obama. A nicer more likeable version but still two very strong personalities with independent high profile careers. I don't see her being happy as the wife of the president somehow and would expect to see her just as active politically as Hillary. So just as when people vote for Hillary, they have to know that Bill will be right in there representing our country, I believe the same is true with the Obama's. Best take a good look at both their positions before voting. I did enjoy seeing her stand by Obama while her told people to "back off" his family (in so many words) and look up at him as if we could step back in time and see Jackie O look up admiringly at Jack. The only problem was the picture just seemed wrong. I think Michelle can take care of herself and doesn't need any prearranged photo shoot of her appearing the supordinate wife to a presidential candidate. Again, take a good look at how Michelle feels about this country. If Obama gets elected I think we'll be seeing and hearing a lot more from Michelle. Actually I think her words about America being a mean country are pretty interesting because personally, I think when she gives speaches, she looks mean and angry.
'Look at the supporters backing HRC… they spew nothing but hatred….' Wunnerful, Wunnerful.
"I would like to be younger and thinner," Ms. Hutchinson said, "but my life is better than ever – especially since I got my new knees."
