Scott McClellan Begins What Happened Tour '08 on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Former White House flak Scott McClellan kicks off his "What Happened" book tour with a visit to good ol' Jonnie Stew's neck of the woods. How do you think McClellan's tell-all book will affect the 2008 election?

That was the best interview I saw with McClellan – all the other stations just asked the usual stuff. Jon really went after him.

He has consistently, in his book interviews, excused the administration's actions blaming them on "the permanent campaign" and "the culture of Washington". Not to mention he really tried to spin their actions as being willful deception.
Call me crazy but as I wear my tin foil hat and watch McClellen I can't help thinking that Scotty is out there trying to sell this war as a misguided effort at democratizing the middle east rather than a big money grab by Bushcorp.
I can still see Scotty on the payroll, out there with his book gently polishing W's image at the direction of Karl Rove. He wrote a book bashing the administration right? So we are supposed to automatically believe everything he says cause he's one of the good guys now.
His book is critical but no smoking gun. It gives McCain a chance to denounce the actions and the foolishness of the Bush administration and lets anyone (republicans especially) off the hook for supporting the war. After all they were just victims of bad intelligence and an overzealous administration.
Call me crazy but I can't help thinking Rove has been put to work on making the republican incumbents electable and Scotty-boy is one of the messengers.

I agree…it was interesting watching him pull a "Clinton" by playing with the word "deception". Sort of like, "Am I deceiving right now". Only this sh*t is much more serious.
Scott, the 'good' soldier, pre-Nurenberg trials, has fallen on his sword for Karl Rove. He is still selling the Republican Party to those Repulsicans so stupid and greedy that they still can't believe Bush was a criminal, just misled. That's the way the Republicans can kick Bush to the curb, gently. And give McCain a chance to lead the folks who have still the conscience to be nauseated by the all-pervading corruption, lying and hypocrisy in this administration, a way to BELIEVE AGAIN in the VALUES of the Republican Party….those lying scumbags..

I am so blown away watching John go after the people he interviews and asking real hard questions and not letting them back off. If all news organizations were as good as this maybe the country would really be on a better track.
John's interview style and his questions were excellent. He was respectful [are you listening Bill O'Reilly] but persistent and of course he nailed the germane issues.
McClellan managed to be both disingenuous in defending the Bush administration and completely self-serving in his desire for a non-partisan Washington. Like Rove, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and the rest of the scum bags who preceded him, he came across as insincere and dishonest only more pathetic.
I thought Jon Stewart could have pressed McClellan harder on the issues. I know it's a comedy show but he went half way and then tried to make a joke out of it.
I think he can be a great interviewer but I would like to see the Jon Stewart from Crossfire when it comes to issues that matter.
What did yall and Jon really expect from him, or anyone else connected to that den of thieves in the White House?
