As reported yesterday, Ted Stevens, the longest serving member of the Senate, was indicted on criminal charges related to "gifts" he received and "failed to report."

He is either stoopider or just as stoopid as G.W. Bush. How does somebody like that get elected in the first place? I remember there were union officials like this in my local union. They get elected with a total lack of brains.

Ted Stevens is not longest serving member of the senate, as this article says. Robert Byrd is. Stevens is the longest running Republican in the senate.
Ted Stevens is a comedy straight line genius. I know it might not be immediately obvious to an American public who have had all the straight lines beaten out of them recently – but as an Australian I can see that Ted deserves a pension and maybe a show of his own JUST TO PROVIDE MATERIAL. The world deserves a laugh.
And just imagine the comedy wasteland in only a very few years – people sitting down in big rooms and discussing things rationally for hours on end!
