Young Voters Least Likely to Vote For a Black Candidate

POSTED BY: CubbyChaser

I wish there was anything funny to say about this

Over the course of the last few months, Rasmussen has been tracking attitudes about voting for a black candidate for President. What they have been finding is that the public is gradually becoming more willing to support such a candidate, but what is most striking in the three surveys they have done is how constant and relatively great the unwillingness to support a black candidate has been in the age group you probably least expect.

According to the three surveys, 18-29 year olds are now relatively less willing to support a black candidate than voters from other age groups. While resistance to supporting a black candidate has dropped in every other age group since February, and overall stands at just 8%, it remains basically unchanged among the youngest voters.

I believe the children are our future. Treat them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

  1. iowagradstudent is right. The younger are just more honest. Obama was accepted FIRST by younger voters & is working his way up the age groups.

Its interesting: generic Democrat candidate wins, so they flip the polling to generic Black candidate. How does generic Black Democrat do? It's all cr*p.

This election will be decided by those who show up, and I will be there the day before polls open, with bells on.

  2. That's why Obama has risen to power with the senior vote behind him. Not.

  3. Mathew Marcus -

Tell yourself whatever you want, but anyone with more than two functioning brain cells can see right through your rationalizations. Questioning Obama's patriotism, and worrying over the fact that his father was Muslim totally betrays the fact that you're just as ignorant and intolerant as any other Republican. Do you honestly think you've expressed one valid concern here? You're just slinging turds. Get a real issue.

  4. *sigh*
bearness, /I/ don't think it's more "okay" for people to not like him because he's Muslim, but there are plenty of ppl in America for whom hatred and distrust of Muslims seems perfectly acceptable thanks to their one-to-one equation of Muslim with terrorist.
And yes, I do think a lot of people have locked on to this new form of racism to cover-up their old-style racism, whether consciously or no.

  5. Are you suggesting that Obama's willingness to talk to enemy "terrorist" and "extreme fundamentalists" is worse than Ronald Reagan's sale of weapons to Iran (a state sponsor of terrorism and fundamentalist theocracy) in the 1980s and then using a portion of the proceeds from the weapon sales to fund Contra terrorists in Nicaragua?

Because I think that "terrorist" and "extremist" loving Reagan guy is remembered rather fondly by the Grand Old Party.

  6. Dude.. why does it always have to go to a "racist thing"?? I don't like Obama because he's showed through his relationships with others, his closeness to terrorists, and his own wife's comments.. that he doesn't have a patriotic bone in his body.. and YES.. the fact that his father is a muslim and that he is willing to talk openly with extreme fundamentalists worries me.. I could care less if he's Black, white, or frickin' purple. I don't think the guy will be good for America! THAT doesn't make me a racist! man!

  7. So you’re saying it is more “okay” in people's minds to not like him because he's Muslim than because he’s black? That makes me proud to be an American.

And this is why the flag wavers scare me a hell of a lot more than the flag burners.

  8. … or is it just that young people are more honest?

i think this whole "Obama is a Muslim" thing is just people unwilling to admit they don't like him 'cause he's black.
