Shampaigning: (verb) To enter a contest, knowing full well that you have no serious chance of winning, without regard for the negative effects your presence with have for others with whom you share ideals.
Usage: After it became clear that Obama had the delegates to win the nomination, Clinton's continuing shampaigning only gave aid and comfort to Republicans.

Nader is the definition of a shampaigner. He's not even running on the Green Party ticket! Give up already! And then focus on getting rid of the electoral college system so we can have more than two viable options.
