Will John McCain Pick Joe Lieberman for VP? Joe Lieberman Can't Answer That
Oh, boy. This rumor just won't die.
Someone with a lot of time on his or her hands continues to float the idea of Joe Lieberman as John McCain's VP pick, forcing the wee "Democrat" to issue new "denials"…
Despite persistent rumors, U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Connecticut's self-proclaimed "independent Democrat," said he will not be presumptive Republican nominee John McCain's vice-presidential running mate.
On Friday, ABC News reported the McCain campaign was "seriously considering" Lieberman as the "transformative pick" the campaign is seeking to further sharpen its message McCain is the race's true "agent of change."… Asked during a visit to Stamford this morning if he would decline a request from McCain to run as his vice-president, Lieberman said: "It's such a hypothetical I can't answer it."
I'm not entirely sure how Lieberman would transform anything for McCain. Maybe they mean he'd transform the campaign into a total laughingstock?
At any rate, I have to give Lieberman some credit for not getting wrapped up in absurd hypotheticals. If you'll remember, earlier this year he steadfastly refused to entirely deny that Barack Obama is a Marxist.
The man is nothing if not consistent.
Update: Not that I actually think Lieberman will end up running as McCain sidekick, but here's an interesting clip of the two would-be veeps — Lieberman and Bayh — facing off on Fox News Sunday after the jump…

Timmy Coffee, how did America struggle under Clinton? We had 8 years of amazing prosperity and minimal international conflict. I mean, Clinton would be considered great if it weren't for his inability to keep his dick in his pants. He could have been better, but that's true of all presidents.
Anyway, Fox News, changing the subject to keep a guy from disagreeing with you and asking leading questions. Not that CNN's any better. The news media's in real trouble.
I think a McCain – Lieberman ticket would be fitting as my opinion of both men has dropped considerably and by equal amounts over the last 8 years.
The American media has long hidden from the public the astonishing fact that as a long term US Senator, John McCain has only a rudimentary understanding of both domestic and national security issues. His petulant, spoiled child disposition makes him un- presidential. He is a reckless individual. A vote for him is a reckless, irresponsible vote. This concerted racist campaign he has now decided to run demonstrates he has no decency. In the last week, he has made it perfectly clear that his campaign is based on the rebirth of Jim Crow era politics. The incessant comments that Senator Obama is presumptuous, arrogant and/or cocky are all code words for he is an uppity Negro who can’t be trusted to know his place. Along with the constant red security alerts, which the Bush administration will start up within the next month, it wouldn’t be surprising for McCain-Bush to propose a national poll tax before the November election. America is struggling after 16 years of Clinton and Bush. McCain would be the final nail in America’s coffin.
