Evan Bayh: Evan Bayh Predicts Evan Bayh Will Not Be Named VP Today

POSTED BY: CubbyChaser

Wow! It is an important day in history. You probably should mark this down on your calendars, because you're unlikely to see something of this monumental import happen again anytime soon. Hang the flags at half-mast and practice the speech you'll be telling your grandkids.

Get this: the Huffington Post — which predicted that Barack Obama would announce Evan Bayh as his running mate today — got something wrong

In an interview with Mary Beth Schneider of the Indianapolis Star today (hat tip to our Swamp buddy John McCormick), Bayh claimed to have "no idea" what Obama's VP timeline is and added:

"I'm absolutely confident there will be no announcement tomorrow. I guess the best way to put it is, if there's an announcement tomorrow, I'd be as surprised as anybody else."

There's a good side and a bad side to this.

The bad side is that we can no longer view HuffPo as the exemplar of pitch perfect journalism and subjective integrity we've all come to view it as, lo these many months.

The good side is that we all get to continue speculating like mindless droids for another few weeks.

  1. Yes Vox. You certainly have added much insight to this conversation. Who would be so daring as to go so far out on limb and declare John Edwards a non-contender? By the way, I hate to break such recent and shocking news to you, but OJ was indeed exonerated and no, the Beatles are not going to get back together.

  2. yes, vox, and there's that whole affair thing, which pretty much put a nail in his proverbial VP coffin.

  3. The one certain bet is that John Edwards will not be chosen by the Convention as VP. He has straddled the two worlds of politics and entertainment precariously, coming on as charming and garrulous guest on many shows. Larry King and John Stewart are not fixtures, are they?

  6. It can't be Obama/Bayh, because it would be pronounced "Obama/Bayh".

  7. DON'T USE ALL CAPS!!!

by iowagradstudent August 8th at 6:53PM
  8. Senator Bayh is the perfect choice.

The chant alone is worth the choice:

    OBAMA/BAYH OBAMA/BAYH!!! VERY COOL TOGETHER !!

HE IS AN AWESOME VP CANDIDATE. SEEMS MR. EDWARDS HAS
BLOWN HIS CHANCE… ALTHOUGH NOT THE BEST THERE ANYWAY.

YES WE CAN = OBAMA BAY!!! GREAT IDEA
