Election Day

We know that November 3, 2009 isn't a real Election Day. But still, we can all pretend. Right? Take a look at these six elections and let us know how much you care.

Democratic Congressional Candidate Wins Coveted Endorsement of Her Own Dogs

POSTED BY: Dylan Ris

Alright candidates, put away the Milk-Bones. Mary Jo Kilroy's dogs have announced their endorsement in the race for Ohio's 15th Congressional District and the winner is… Mary Jo Kilroy!

Amazed at her good fortunes, the congressional candidate quickly issued a news release quoting the dignitaries…

"Everyday thousands of humans are expressing why they are voting for Mary Jo, so we decided it would be a good time to show you why we support her," barked Murphy, one of Mary Jo's three dogs.

Furthermore, announced Kilroy "spokescat" Ella, the campaign is launching a Pets For Kilroy web page to commemorate this highly coveted accolade.

The news could not have come at a better time for Kilroy. She is locked in an incredibly close race with Republican Steve Stivers, who — having no pet endorsements of his own — has been stuck campaigning on his accomplishments in the Ohio state legislature and his service in the Iraq War.

With Chase, Murphy and Dodger now in the fold, look for Kilroy to surge ahead as the campaign enters the homestretch.

Next on the endorsement checklist… Jimmy Carter!

  1. And no, I'm not suggesting you Dems come up with another entitlement program, or send out drop in the bucket handouts or relief checks.

I'm suggesting that you make it a Manhattan Project, to help America fund their own energy production, household by household, through low interest loans with deferred payment until we're up and running and saving on our power bills, or selling our excess power back to the grid.

With plug in hybrids, and better fuel efficiency, we could be saving millions of barrels of oil, which would drive the price of oil down immediately, not in the 20 years it'll take to drill.

We may not completely replace oil, but alternative energies can provide a nice supplement – up to 10 to 40 percent at current demand, according to retailers who are installing solar rooftops now, like Walmart, Kohls, and Whole Foods.

Conservation, efficiency, innovation, technology and the spirit of free enterprise will prove to be the solution. One American at a time. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Stop Cheney and his energy thugs from flipping the bird at the entire world. Please, Dems, you're my only hope at this point. Don't mess it up by rolling over on this issue. Look what happened to Gore when he tried to downplay his "green" record, and be more like a Republican. It's a losing game. You are the party of the people – act like it.

  2. Democrats, you better pull it together and remember what you stand for – the people of this great nation, not the fatcats. With so many of you caving in, on FISA, on drilling, we're on a collision course toward a one party system, like China, only it's The Grand Oil Party, not fiscal responsible Republicans, or fight for the average joe Dems.

If you guys don't find your balls and stand up to these oilcrat hustlers. who will? Show us that you will fight for true energy independence. Show us that you're listening – demand for plug in hybrids is here. Why aren't they building them? Every govt. building, every home in America, should have a solar rooftop and windmills where there's room and wind.

The links between energy, and Cheney, not to mention this administration ignoring market manipulation, and yet another energy "crisis" that blames the Dems for gas prices, are much bigger fish to fry in this election, than the market manipulation and previous fake energy crisis that helped get Bush elected. Oh, for the days when we were screaming about gas creeping up to 3 dollars a gallon.

I remember some people saying that heaven forbid – gas might even creep up to 4 a gallon. Are we going to fall for it again, folks? When there's no more Democratic party, and it's all just one big Grand Oil Party, and gas is 8 bucks a gallon? Yeah. The Republicans had nothing to do with Enron. And Cheney gives a damn about our air quality. Wake up, Dems, you gotta win this – for the future of our country, the land, air and water our children will inherit.
