Bill O'Reilly Serves Up More Hilarious Comedy From the Far Right
Fans of Bill O'Reilly were recently given good cause to stop throwing feces at the wall of their cages and enjoy a much-needed laugh: a preview of the new conservative comedy film, An American Carol.
I'll let Videogum's Gabriel Delahaye set this one up…
Yikes. The movie was written and directed by David Zucker, who gave the world Airplane! and the Naked Gun series. He's like an American treasure, but whatever the opposite of treasure is. It's too bad 14-year-olds can't vote, because then this movie would be a really powerful political tool.
Was Gabe actually besmirching Airplane! and The Naked Gun? Whatever. Either way, this preview really shows how far this particular Zucker brother has fallen…
My favorite part of the preview — the only part that actually made me laugh — was when they cut to the country singer shitkicker guy singing the ridiculously patriotic love ballad to America in that huge pyrotechnic arena. I thought, "Wow, are they actually making fun of themselves a little?"
And then I realized that was the one part of the preview that wasn't intended as parody.

Matt: That American Carol trailer is the most mind-blowing thing you'll see all day.
Dennis: It actually doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it would.
Dennis: But I was thinking pretty bad.
Matt: Really? Wow.
Dennis: Yeah.
Matt: Your expectations are impressively low.
Matt: I don't think mine go that low.
Dennis: I mean, it doesn't look "funny."
Dennis: But it holds together as a thing, and I wasn't counting on that.
Dennis: I was thinking bad along the lines of 'Epic Movie' or '1/2 Hour News Hour.'
Matt: I actually think it looks worse than Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans and all those things.
Dennis: Really? No!
Dennis: Those are the lowest.
Matt: Because the humor is on par, but the politics are so fucking ham-fisted.
Matt: This looks like a cross between Postal and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
Matt: This is worse than anything. You are wrong.
Matt: This movie is mankind's greatest atrocity.
Dennis: Is that your pull quote?
Matt: It's my suicide note.
Matt: I'm just glad Anne Frank isn't alive to see it, because she'd be like, "Fuck it. I give up. We're not all basically good after all."
After that, I conceded defeat.

Sure it may not be hilarious, but ppl need to get a sense of humor. Look at south park for example, Matt Stone and Trey Parker make fun of everything they can and a lot of people find it hilarious. So this film may be a pretty good satire in itself.
If this doesn't get preachy on right wing politics, and just pokes fun at the left, it could be really funny. Preachiness ruins a lot of good comedy all along the political spectrum.
The movie looks like the same old recycled shit all over again. Suffice it to say they won't be getting my hard earned money.

O.K. I'm all for spoofs because they are funny. What has Bill O'reilly done for America. He ain't a politician and his morals are suspect(ask his wife) so who died and made him king of whats right and wrong. Could't pay me to see anything associated with Bill O'reilly.
Somebody put a lot of hard work into getting Moore to shut-up and stay out of sight until after the election. Lets hope this "comedy" doesn't ruin that.
Oh…and Trace Adkins (Atkins? whatever) wouldn't know a real patriot if I walked up and kicked him in the nuts. Fucking flag-wavers would sign away every right we have, as long as they could use a flag motif pen.
lib4: thanks for bringing up "W," which also doesn't look very good. I probably won't go to either of these movies. (I'll save myself the money for buying "Dark Knight" on DVD when it comes out!)
Who green lighted that crap\? This looks like it will give Idiocracy a run for worst movie in known and unknown history (and all of the foreseeable future). If you pay money to see this there is no reason for you to continue breeding, or breathing for that matter.

This movie is sickening to watch and I'm pissed off at David Zucker and Leslie Neilson for having anything to do with this pro right bullshit. Chris Farley would rolling over in his grave if he knew his brother supported this absolute, right wing, Neocon bullshit.
The only part I laughed at was the "I love America" song…. but I guess that wasn't supposed to be funny. Yikes!
I am a liberal, if you couldn't tell. I don't care. I love Zucker Bros. films ever since Kentucky Fried Movie. I'm ready to be treated like a human pinata for wanting to see this and will not pass judgment until I do. It is possible it is not what y'all think it will be. Didn't you want conservatives to see Fareignheight 9/11? Did you get mad at them when they didn't? Dead and Loving it sucked (except for the toilet scene) so did a lot of the recent ones agreed. Don't know if Pat Proft or Abrahams are involved (or John Landis from the original Kentucky Fried Theater) I don't care. W will probably be worse. If MM took his fat ass out of the picture frame, perhaps his films would have gotten better reception. C'mon Airplaine! is a top 10 comedy and Naked Gun is a top 50 (I mean O.J. gets dragged under a bus). When Dennis hears about this, shit's gonna hit the fan. And, I'm not gonna give you that clip. Sorry. A funny flick is a funny flick and there is plenty of room to make fun of MM. I can put my political opinions aside and laugh… if it's laughable. Gary Coleman as a slave? The kid hasn't had work since Different Strokes. Whatchoo talking about Mr. D? Papa Bear punching Roger? Kelsey Grammar is a total liberal. I have a feeling there is more than meets the eye to this. Respectfully, as a huge Obama supporter, I disagree.
