On November 26, 1778, Captain James Cook of the British Royal Navy sailed his ship around the Hawaiian Islands and came upon the beautiful Island of Maui, making him the very first European (read as: "white person") to lay on it.

However, that's all he did. Because he was unable to find a suitable place to dock, he never actually stepped foot on the island and ended up just sailing away in frustration.

To this day, white people have never returned to the island, was never overthrown by greedy American businessmen and remains a placid and reclusive island paradise, untouched by the modern world.
