Rick Warren's "Cone of Silence" is No Match for John McCain

Unfortunately, the term "cone of silence" has just been added to the American political lexicon of terms of terms that we're going to have to hear for fucking ever…
Senator John McCain was not in a "cone of silence" on Saturday night while his rival, Senator Barack Obama, was being interviewed at the Saddleback Church in California…
[Rev. Rick] Warren, the pastor of Saddleback, had assured the audience while he was interviewing Mr. Obama that "we have safely placed Senator McCain in a cone of silence" and that he could not hear the questions…
Mr. Warren started by asking Mr. McCain, "Now, my first question: Was the cone of silence comfortable that you were in just now?"
Apparently, McCain used the skills he acquired as a POW and somehow managed to escape the dreaded "cone of silence" to perform a reconnaissance mission and listen to Warren's questions for Barack Obama so that he could prepare himself for the interrogation.
And now we'll have to listen to the term "cone of silence" at least through November.
I wonder how much those "cones of silence" cost.

It may come as a surprise to some that there are reasons why you have rules in this type of forum–to preserve the presumption of impartiality by which the parties agreed to appear at Saddleback in the first place. It is ironic that the McCain camp is now trying to accuse NBC of not being impartial. You can't have it both ways. There is absolutely no doubt that McCain had an obligation to inform Rick Warren and the viewers that he was not in fact in any manner of a “cone of silence”. To have not done so now makes it appear as if Rick Warren was complicit in this ruse which I believe he was not. It highlights the degree of moral compromise that McCain is willing to accept in order to get what he wants. Now that is a character issue.
Make sure you watch the interview before commenting.
You will notice that McCain used 'canned' speeches.
On the other hand, Obama seemed much more conversational and introspective.
It's not hard here to see who the victor was.
Watch out for all the spin.
McCain was prepared for the questions Rev Warren had asked Barack. Barack was prepared for the questions Rev Warren said (July 21) he was going to ask the candidates. Note the difference.
With him charging a +$500 "donation" to his church for attendance, I'm convinced that Warren was the winner.
bearness: all I hope is that the money went to a good cause. Warren's supported some good ones in the past.
Yes, evil does exist and it pretends there is a "cone of silence" when there is none while smiling the entire time. Warren is a charlatan not very well disguised.
Does anyone cringe when McCain chuckles? He apparently thinks he delivers some really clever one-liners (no fool like an old fool) and he just cracks himself up. The problem is that he sounds like the creepy old man that lives down the block and wears a trench coat in August (or maybe that's just my neighborhood). And while I truly do respect and admire his war record, ENOUGH ALREADY! Give it a rest. Did he have to work it into each and every answer? Makes me wish he would go back into the "cone of silence."
John McCain absolutely sounded rehearsed and quick to respond….Rick Warren couldnt get his questions out before John McCain was delivering his answers without ANY thought. Quite a difference from the airplane non response/holding his mouth/looking around deal after an impromptu question abt his thoughts on Birth Control/Healthcare and HOW he voted BUT couldnt remember how he voted….Things that make u say only in AMERICA!!..Now we are his FRIENDS!!! these are my no thought immediate responses to questions I've never heard in my Life. I'd vote for him if I thought he could truly respond in 1 second with such intelligent after 16 months of nothing other than bad mouthing and casting bad rhetoric on Mr. Obama……
Hey OBAMABOTS….Its not as if the questions asked were quantum physics that you would need a cheat sheet for…Your guy er, em, ah, was just was off his game yah that's it… he was missing his pillow, and telepromter. They weren't available at his pay grade
I thought from the moment I began watching Senator McCain that he was too prepared and he jumped at the questions even before they were being asked by the Pastor Warren. Barack's one hour of converation was a joy to watch and listen to him speak so eloquently. On the other hand, Senator McCain was prompted. Also, did anyone notice how he kpt looking out into the audience to his mistress, Cindy. He often noded to her. I don't think he was acknowledging her presence the 10 times or so. I wondered what that was about until I read about McCain NOT being in the cone of silence BUT in a limo on the way to the forum as Barack was being questioned. Well, wasn't tha clever on somebody's part. Was it planned? McCain needs to cuddle up to a nice warm hot toddy and throw a blanket over his body and take a nice long winter snooze. This will all be over soon, Senator, then you can go back to being :the maverick"…No disrespect intended in the above message. GO, Senator Obama, GO!
