Last night, after leaving The Big Tent, Michael and I were wandering around downtown Denver trying to find our car when we ran into some people from an organization Michael blogged about briefly yesterday called Porn is Bipartisan.

My first thought was: Oh, no! You're not taking my porn away from me! It's all I have, damnit! It's all I have! You see — like guns, religion and Hope — porn is something to which I cling bitterly.

But they turned out to be much more reasonable (and therefore less mock-worthy) than I'd have suspected. Their biggest concern seemed to be keeping porn out of the hands — or eyeballs, really — of children. And I have to say that I sympathized with their argument. But probably not for the same reasons as them.

My concern is that, by pornography being so omnipresent on the web, my children will be robbed of the guilty thrill of finding porn. If it's everywhere (and it is), there's no excitement is accidentally coming across in a tree fort in the woods, under your dad's bed, or on the passenger side seat of some creepy old guy's car.

I just think it's sad to imagine my son being more and more desensitized to pornography every time he Googles President Jenna Bush's name for a homework assignment.
