Photos – The Ripple Effect

POSTED BY: Michael Kraskin

The Ripple Effect took place yesterday on the front lawn of the state capital.  It was an all day music festival that, the organizers say, was intended to demonstrate that music could be about more than entertainment.

According to their tag lines, the event was Beyond the Convention (true), and Beyond Partisanship (mm… let's just say I didn't see a lot of young republicans there…)

It was a well-attended event with several thousand colorfully dressed activists who probably did a better job of recreating '68 than anyone in Denver.

Here's the crew that put the event together.  They were the most conservatively dressed, most respectable looking folks in attendance.  Erick Boustead (in the hat), dedicated the last 6 months of his life to putting this together, unpaid.  So if you're a fan of events that bring anarchists and hippies together, you can help the guy out here.

Their band line up was impressive, though I'm not sure the names "Dead Prez" and "Anti-Flag" were quite in the spirit of the election.

This is pretty much what most of the crowd looked like.  I told you the organizers were the best dressed.

It was cold, so the folks who forgot to wear shirts had to do a lot of hugging to stay warm.

Why is neither party talking about drilling in other galaxies?

I wonder he doesn't know why no one is taking his literature.

Or looking him in the eye.

Or coming within 10 feet of him.

The event is totally beyond partisanship…

…except sometimes.

Well, I have to say, this sign isn't "boring."  Horrifying maybe.

Four bins to dump your trash in.

Two white guys explaining how society is racist to a black guy.

The organizers clarify their stance on violence.

You get what you pay for.

I think they hid their weed in these oversized Bush administration heads.
