This just goes to show why our party can't win... we fundamentally do not understand the country that we are living in. We casually blow off racism as if it magically disappeared. Most of those who claim racism is a non-factor have never had to deal with it before and wouldn't know in the first place. Even if racism isn't as overt as it once was, whites still hold many subconscious prejudices against blacks... and I'm not talking about republicans (which is expected), other democrats WILL vote this way, simply because they cannot bring themselves to vote for a black man. They feel too ashamed to tell pollsters that they won't back their own party because of race but feel more than comfortable with expressing their racism in the privacy of a voting booth. Besides, this is a presidential election. Americans view the presidency a lot differently than they view a gubernatorial or mayoral race. Obama is going to have to break the chain of deep-seated "white tribalism" in this country. Whether they will admit it or not, many Americans can only envision a male Anglo-Saxon as the "leader of the free world". Trust me when I say that racism is real and is a major obstacle Obama will have to overcome. "Palin-mania" is an excuse. Do you really think the democrats that are supporting her actually agree with her politics? Not a chance. They were the people that already felt uncomfortable with voting for Obama and now feel comfortable with telling pollsters they'll vote for McCain because of her. She adds "diversity" to their ticket which lessens the "guilt-factor" democrats feel when telling pollsters they'll vote republican.

blah blah blah..Once again, the Republicans are avoiding the real issues, and focusing on irrelevant ones. Distract Distract Distract. We all know how good Palin is at distracting. (when you're covering up your baby with your momma's baby, you might be a redneck)

The Republicans should dump the old guy, and nominate Palin. She should select Clarence Thomas as her VP, that would put the uppity Democrats in their place!

This article is a joke. I've already heard from thier own mouths a month ago that the black leaders orchestrating Obama's campaign said if he doesn't win, it's because of racism....what a joke!! Political correctness at it's worse to try and silence people once again. The comment by Glenn Helton with the secret "code words" in McCain/Palin messages is also a joke. I'm white and I image white and black community organizers. The celebrities mentioned in the McCain ad's are the very white Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and "He's not ready" means he doesn't have experience which is a fact. Spending half your time in the Senate campaigning, never leading anything but a campaign and writing two memoirs while not passing any legislation equals INEXPERIENCE. I can't believe so many ignorant people would vote for someone who hasn't led a thing in his life and associates with Rev Wright and Ayres. Not to mention we have enough lawyers in Washington.....No contest, military hero and proven leaders and reformers in McCain/Palin.

Thanks buddy! People like you are the reason a lot of people are still racist in America. Think about it. That's like saying if people don't vote for McCain/Palin they are sexist. I guess America is sexist too because they didn't pick Hillary over Obama, huh? Are you kidding me?

The problem Obama has is that it's not just hillbillies and rednecks that hold his race against him; remember this gem from . . . his running mate Joe Biden!

He's the first "articulate" and "clean" black man? If this is the viewpoint of the esteemed senator from Delaware - imagine what challenges he faces in Ohio!

The SOBs are going to whip out some nasty underhanded race-baiting tactics as an Obama victory becomes immanent to their puny minds. Hopefully they don't succeed in pulling us into the gutter again.
