John McCain Proud to Stand Before Random California Middle School For Some Reason

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

Hey, remember that green screen John McCain was standing in front of in his memorial speech of John McCain last night?

Okay, once we all stopped laughing at the lime green background he's so fond of, we realized that it was just a very-well-planned-out close-up image of grass in front of what we could only assume to be one of his 22 unknown homes.

Well, that's not what it was. It was an image of Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, California.

Why would he be standing in front of a picture of Walter Reed Middle School? It's possible that that's one of the twenty different schools he attended while following his father around from military base to military base, but that seems unlikely.

So, why choose that school?

Well, because Walter Reed Middle School sounds an awful lot like Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

And somebody's not very well-versed with the Googles.

  1. To the beloved Jenne,

I'd like to use the spite filled language you do, and just assume that anyone who disagrees with me on this issue or that is necessarily the devil, lazy and shiftless to boot, but I can't afford to raise my kids with that sort of hate. See, they are going to have to live in a pluralistic society, where they will have to interact with people of different beliefs and values, and just spewing forth the darkest, vilest things they can think won't get them anywhere.

BTW, I do have time on my hands this election cycle. That's because, after nearly 9 years on the job as a professional, I am now supporting my wife's dreams as she pursues a career at the highest levels of state government and focusing on our kids. I'll be back in the workforce full-time soon enough, but given the issues and the stakes I think spending the time I have being able to directly participate in this debate is worthwhile.

I also teach online and as an adjunct at a major university, and I know I've had everything from libertarians to radical feminists in my classes. Using your standard as a basis for conduct, should I go in and accuse the Libertarians and Republicans of being knuckle dragging neanderthal, baby killing, My Lai reenacting idiots who wouldn't know the difference between their heads and a hole in the ground because I disagree with their party's choice to displace over 2 million Iraqis, kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians all over the world as part of a "war on terror" that even the Rand Corporation says needs to be carried on as a police (ie investigatory and security) action rather than a war, and refuses to take action against truly rogue nations like Sudan and Zimbabwe while doing everything they can to restart the Cold War? Or should I try to understand that maybe, just maybe, I don't have a complete monopoly on morality and try to see how they came to their viewpoints, however illogical they may seem to me?

  2. Oh Jenne,
you sound like one of "those brain dead druggies who can't hold down full time jobs that have plenty time to sit on internet and blog."
Man… this world is in serious trouble because the very people who say they want a change and are for peace are attempting to elect a man, if you can call McCain that, who voted against and spoke in favor of killing live babies.

I did not know that a baby is killed in America every 28 seconds. Are you planning to adopt a child every 28 seconds. Or are you personally doing something about the infant mortality rate in the USA- more deaths per 1000 births than 31 industrialized nations, nestled in between Latvia and Slovakia.
PRO CHOICE: A personal choice. Keep your intrusive hopes for Big Government out of it.
"SOLDIERS HAD A CHOICE TO JOIN THE ARMY AND MOST ARE NOT COMPLAINING." Jenne, don't yell. No one likes a screamer. And have you considered the soldier suicide rate or the number of vets against the current occupation of Iraq, the bombing of Afghan civilians (including 65 children in the last 3 weeks) and most recently the use of ground forces and air raid strikes on Pakistan.
BABIES HAVE NO CHOICE TO BE KILLED. Neither do adults my Jenne. But they are being killed with my tax dollars and your tax dollars.

  3. How can we get the word about these photos into senior citizen home newsletters ?

  4. Realty Association says John McCain mistakenly lists middle school for sale. "It's hard to keep track of all my homes, and my promises and my wife Sarah and…", drool's McCain.

  5. Story just broke that they probably used it because the school was a backdrop on "West Wing"…this keeps getting funnier and funnier. If it keeps up, Comedy Central will go out'a biznez….!

  6. McCain camp denies it was a mistake. They are as stubborn as they are stupid.

  7. "Most are brain dead druggies who can't hold down full time jobs that have plenty time to sit on internet and blog."

Yes, Jenne, here you are- blogging.

Your ignorance is staggering. If only your mother had chosen to have a headache the night you were conceived.

I'd write more, but I have my full-time job to get to…
By the way, you might want to go back to night school and get your G.E.D. You might learn how to write. I would say think, but thinking requires brains, and all you have in your head is a right-wing, knee-jerk, Jerry Falwell tape player.

  8. So not ONE person who works at Walter Reed Middle School will vote for McCain? Wow. I'm glad they already held the election there two months before the rest of us. As for this whole backdrop business, it's pathetic. If this is the best you can do to attack a photograph rather than a platform, then you have some serious issues.

by esme September 7th at 4:32PM
  9. main point was that it WAS a mistake by the campaign (school vs. hospital), which then tried to spin it as a "representative of American schools…", except that they failed to get the rights to show the photo from the school district…, which considered suing them.
everything's legal, until you get caught.

Unless I'm mistaken, Sarah spoke of "the big Styrofoam columns" and the stage in Denver several times during her speech. We are just following the GOP lead and talking about backdrops instead of platforms. Let's keep avoiding the issues and then maybe teh GOP can sneak in another victory.
