How in this world can this nation expect a person to help guide this country when she cannot even keep her own household in order. Does not this woman resemble Mary Ann from Gilligan's island? I reckon if she and Mc Cane get elected will be shipwrecked for the next 4 years. Then again Obama preaches change when we really need repentance and a turning back to YAHWEH and His Son YAHSHUA! Amen.

I am a democrat who was willing to concede the Republicans finally did something right by nominating Sarah Palin. Thanks to Anne Kilkenny, I must revise that opinion and go back to the originial. Oh well...ever the optimist. Thanks Ms.Kilkenny....you deserve a hand.

Navyman, the Anne Kilkenny piece has been backed up all over the web. Also, if you read it as a whole, is actually pretty balanced. There are a number of compliments to her that I certainly haven't heard from most rabid Dems, like calling her smart, gutsy, etc. It compliments her on going outside the box to get more money for Alaskans. The author seems to think she has some good qualities as a person, just not as a candidate for high office. Also, the stories about the librarian and book banning, requesting everyone tender their resignation (supposedly as a show of loyalty), firing employees for issues percieved to be personal rather than performance related, relying on RNC funding to get in the door at Wasilla, adding a party functionary as city administrator (who she also later fired) - all those have been backed up by her local paper, the Alaska state-wide papers and other sources in Wasilla. The fact that Wasilla saw rampant growth of big box stores and sprawl under Palin, and debt financing for what is typically called a "hockey stadium" (here multipurpose facility) is also well documented. The comments about Todd Palin are also right on from other sources - he works for BP on the North Slope, he's gone from home for long stretches of time, he makes something like 100k a year and he loves to race snowmobiles. Also documented elsewhere is that she pledged that if elected Mr. Palin would quit his job to avoid a conflict of interest - but they backed off that pledge later on the argument that he wasn't high enough up in management for it to matter. While we don't know a lot about Gov. Palin, these are factual aspects of her resume that have been well vetted - so I'm trying to understand the urban legend problem you are having?

Or would you rather people just kept claiming we should vote for her because she's "hot" or a "hockey-mom/pitbull wearing lipstick"?

Onlychildsoul, while I find you comment interesting, 1) I have no real reason to believe it's actually from a real person and not just talking points and 2) this is a COMEDY WEBPAGE. Man, can't ppl just be funny here instead of writing long rants???

Meanwhile, for having 300+ posts, there's kind of a dearth of good picks... not that I came up with anything, so i guess I can't complain.

Nice try, Onlychildsoul. This is a gross distortment that will end up on snopes.com as FALSE. Typical of most snopes urban legends, you start off the lie with some accurate background that totally fabricate everything else..nice try, loser..lol!!

Regarding the Alaska "bridge-to-nowhere" controversy, the press has never told a complete story of just what purpose this bridge would have served. I lived in Juneau from 1979-1984 and Anchorage from 1970-1972 and 1985-1993, so I know Southeast Alaska's geography, having sailed Alaska state ferries to all its ports. This infamous bridge would have connected the town of Ketchikan on the North American mainland to its airport across the north end of the Revillagigado Channel on Gravina Island.

Currently, only a small local ferry delivers travelers across this channel to the airport, which becomes a dicey adventure in fierce winter storms. I remember riding one Alaska state ferry which took almost an hour to enter port safely while gale-force winds tried to slam it broadside into the dock. It took all the captain's seamanship to maneuver that large ship into its slip with superb engine and rudder control.

So an all-weather bridge could have given Ketchikan residents faster and safer access to their airport. Such a bridge would have had to be very tall to allow huge cruise ships to pass underneath, and the mountainous local fjord geography would have dictated a long bridge down, across, and then up the narrow channel to get around the end of the airport runway and separate aircraft and road traffic with adequate safety margins.

There's one other consideration regarding this bridge: What if a plane crashes at this airport? How fast could rescue arrive if they had to wait for a small ferry to get them all across the channel from town to the airport? True, few people live on Gravina Island, but that airport is an important connection for a town as isolated as Ketchikan, which has only air and sea access, no road or rail access at all.
