Is Sarah Palin a racist? And a sexist? And just really, really dumb?

That would seem to be the case if you were to believe this highly improbable article from the LA Progressive…

"So Sambo beat the bitch!" This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama's win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

Ummmmmmm… I'm calling bullshit on this story.

Not because I think saying shit like that is above her. I don't, because I still don't really know anything about her. I have no idea if she's a George Allen or not.

The reason I don't believe it is that the article claiming it is a piece of shit. The article has a lot of really nasty things to say about Palin, but lacks even one single person willing to go on the record by name, supposedly "out of fear of retribution"…

Maybe it's the long winter nights where you don't see the sun for months that makes people feel as if they're under constant danger from "the authorities." As I interviewed residents it began sounding as if living in Alaska controlled by the state Republican Party is like living in the old Soviet Union…

Are you fucking kidding me? I mean, seriously, this is some pretty low grade, bottom-barrel journalism here. And I'm a low-grade, bottom-barrel journalist, so I should know. And even I wouldn't write something that shitty.

This kind of thing — written this poorly, with zero attribution and completely transparent partisanship — does nobody on the left any good. None at all. It's just the kind of bullshit mudslinging that the right can point to in their campaign to make everyone feel sorry for poor lipstick bulldog hockey mom. And muddies the waters of genuine criticism.

So, please, please, please… leave the shitty journalism to people like me, who no one takes seriously anyway.

Speaking of which, I have it on good authority — from a guy who refuses to talk, except through 13 inches of steel — that Sarah Palin is actually a golem, crafted entirely from crude oil and walrus blubber.
