I like Palin-drone a lot, but my definition goes this way:

palindrone (n): a word or phrase that spells "disaster" in every direction.

this has been making its way around, maybe help it along

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PROPOSAL FOR A NEW DEMOGRAPHIC : THE METH BELT (formerly THE POVERTY BELT)

it is the season for weird letters like this one
so i apologize sort of, and get right to it:

the good Tina Fey has guided us to an important point

if Wasilla is indeed the meth capital of Alaska
then i can't help but remember that Arizona is famous for meth too

and do recognize that the recent huge increase in domestic use
of the drug most closely identified with American poverty (meth)
is, as they say in economic circles, a bad indicator

so i like this idea of The Meth Belt, as it abstractly evokes white(-ish)
working-poor non-college-educated etc mountain/desert/rural demographics
and begs the question: have we wandered onto badlands farmed by Hillary's lost tribes?

this is only exciting because the tv heads say they are 'in play'

it is a kind way to say 'no one knows anything about them' (they weren't really Hillary's either)
if they vote in the election, we'll know where they're at
the rest is conjecture

the actual meth-heads won't vote, and remain opaque
too tweaked to have managed to register (wait my real real name?)
or no longer legal voters due to convictions in criminal court

that said: i think that the Meth Belt is a pretty useful and honest rebranding
of the Poverty Belt, long forgotten, ever expanding

which brings us to this link (includes very funny Sarah Palin imitation by Tina Fey)
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=109554353&blogID=433156142

+ if you see the point
repost it online somewhere or link to it
email it to your influential friends
or otherwise help raise awareness

if not, no worries, enjoy Tina Fey
maybe for a long time
though while we would love to see her do this character forever
that in itself is not good enough reason to advance Sarah Palin to high office

the economy is collapsing, now, as we speak
Mr. McCain knows little of economics, and has said so
yes markets 'heal' themselves
but it is bloody, as wounds tend to be
not mental, not imaginary

fair warning:
you may soon be unable to afford good drugs anymore
prescription or not

that's the thing about meth: it's home-made
you can't blame the dealer

these are unhappy people

the fact that the use of this drug of extreme poverty
exploded during Sarah Palin's exalted executive leadership
is symptomatic and suggestive of a corresponding
increase in poverty in Alaska at the time;
somebody should check

meanwhile on the educational front
our baby-with-the-bathwater drug war
has it so you can't go into a toy store anymore
and buy your kid a chemistry set
banned thanks to meth-heads
so great now the only kids who understand chemistry are drug addicts

funny, to be sure
but fairly bad for america

your opportunity for gentle political persuasion is waning
buy now

this is not the america you want

trapped in the casino
you are already out of money
and the drugs are bad

There ought to be a word for "there ought to be a word."

In fact there is; sniglets!

These examples are from Rich Hall's "Sniglets" books but my two favortes there are;

"gashole" - someone who cuts through a corner gas station to make a right turn

and

"musquirt" - that watery yellow liquid that first comes out of the mustard dispenser.

Im surprised the big issue was Obamas response. I would think that running for vp, Palin would be careful with sexist self deprecating jokes like this one. I am a hockey mom and I think there are many differences between me and a violent dog. For one Palin, I'm human and I dont always wear lipstick.
