Lincoln Memorable

Since Glenn Beck's 8/28 Rally was such a huge success, does that mean he's now a greater man than Martin Luther King. Or just as great?

John McCain Spokesperson: Sarah Palin Couldn't Run a Computer Company

McCain surrogate and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, said today in a radio interview that Sarah Palin wouldn't have the experience to run her old company:

"Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett Packard?" the host asked Fiorina.

"No, I don't," she replied. "But that's not what she's running for. Running a corporation is a different set of things."

That is accurate. Computer companies don't generally focus on issues of war, commerce, or the welfare of the citizenry.

They are however similar in size: HP's global workforce is about as large as the number of registered voters in Alaska.

As Fiorina herself was drummed out of HP by the company's board in 2005, she could tell you exactly what you need to fail running HP.

Sadly, there was no follow-up question. The first that comes to my mind (aside from "Should McCain advocates really be trying to make Sarh Palin look like someone without executive experience?") is "What about Radio Shack? Could she at least run a Radio Shack?"

Which all points to why Obama should have chosen Al Gore as a running mate — He did invent the internet, after all.

Update: Video after the jump…

  2. She spoke at the RNC and talked about how the Democrats will send jobs of US workers overseas. Ahhh umm ask an HP worker where all of the their call centers are and how many American's answer the phones at HP.

  3. Guess what Ms. Fiorina? Don't let the iron curtain hit you on the way out. Business ain't like politics either. In the future, good luck and choose your beers wisely.

  4. …and as it turns out, McCain is too egotistical. Obama has a chance. He has the capacity to see beyond his own circumstances. For or better or worse…I've embraced him as the next POTUS. Good luck, amigo.

  5. There's a fine ine between 'run' and 'ruin'. The difference being an 'I', ego…She couldn't run the country or a corporation because she is too full of herself. As is Bush.

  7. But now Alaska's population is 2x the size it was when Palin took office, due to everyone's favorite abstinence programs.

  8. Well, as of today, HP's global workforce is half the size of the Alaska electorate. But that's not Carly Fiorina's fault, since she was, as you put it, "drummed out of HP" by the dimwits now presiding over the "downsizing."

I'm sure the McCain campaign wishes Fiorina weren't quite so honest. I find her forthrightness refreshing. Would have been interesting to see what she might have done as the VP pick.
