Jon Stewart on the Sarah Palin Interview

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart pointed out that Sarah Palin would bring the much needed overconfidence that is lacking in the current administration.

To answer Jon's question, no,  He's not the only one who believes blinking is actually healthy.  Blinking brings much needed moisture to one of our most delicate organs, which in turn can help ensure that our ability to see the world around us clearly is preserved.

But Palin is not talking about eye moistening.  She's using the term "blink" in the manner introduced to the world by Malcom Gladwell, and according to Fred Kaplan at Slate:

…the thesis of his best-selling book Blink was not that snap decisions are superior to decisions based on careful deliberation. It was that people who have a deep understanding of what they do—for instance, really good surgeons, military commanders, air-traffic controllers, and so forth—often make their best decisions quickly and instinctively.

But if you don't know what you're dealing with, snap decisions can be fatal.

Fatal? Yikes.  It's a good thing she got all that expertise from gazing at Russia.

  1. Sorry to disagree with you, indecider, but a 'blink of an eye' decision is a different kind of thing than the unthinking no-shrinking or blinking on the brink kinda thing that Bush and Palin think shows strong leadership.

  2. What Would Jesus Blink at?

  3. Not blinking kinda reminds me of that diarrhea in public feeling- It's there and you know it and you know you're doing everything you can to keep yourself from doing what is about to happen naturally regardless of how retarded you may look while cringing your ass cheeks tightly together in public. Then without a moments hesitation you let your mind wonder off to a happy place with lots of snow, moose and tanning beds for everyone then BLINK….DAMN! You suddenly realize that you must now question your judgment and whether or not you made the right decision to even leave the house.
I'm enlightened what can I say.

  5. "1.57 Now I know that her detractors will say
that she actually supported the bridge until it became a political albatross and ended up keeping a lot of the money for it anyway
or that she claimed to have visited Iraq when she really didn't
or that she didn't really sell that plane on Ebay
or that she left the town she was Mayor of nearly 20 million dollars in debt
and that she made sure that women that were RAPED in her town were charged for their rape kits
    the point is … yeah … yeah … yeah … it's ****** true!
the point is this – shut up!"

  9. The Republi-CONS were so full of themselves. We are the CHANGE party, gonna clean up the mess the Replican arty has made (of course .. had to disown there own party in process), and pushing a compelling narrative (a work of fiction "The Maverick – Sarah Palin") to the dumb struck masses for 2 very long weeks … That is, until Wall Street d@mn near imploaded (500+ billion dollar loss in a day) Not to mention creating havoc in the Asia & Japan stock markets as a result. Of yeah … DUBYAH agreed that we "the taxpayer" should float AIG a 78 billion dollar loan to prevent further collapse of our financial system.

Even those that don't get to deep in thought or stray to far from there prejudices can appreciate that "the who" – I'm an outsider narrative .. nevermind that there is no substance or vision vs. "the what" as to the almost overwhelming and worsening issues that are now staring us all "don't blink" in the face.
