Election Day

We know that November 3, 2009 isn't a real Election Day. But still, we can all pretend. Right? Take a look at these six elections and let us know how much you care.

Former President Bill Clinton to Appear on The Daily Show Tuesday

POSTED BY: Eric March

…to discuss the Clinton Global Initiative, a sharp pivot from his 2006 interview with Jon Stewart, where he discussed the Clinton Global Initiative.

  1. On The View Monday, while explaining the personal nature of the voting process, Bill Clinton said, "You can't tell someone else that the ground on which they make their voting decisions is irrational. . . You can't tell anybody that they don't know what they're doing because they voted for X instead of Y."

Please ask Mr. Clinton, “In the Spring and Summer of 1934, could/should a fair minded rational German citizen, who was aware of Adolph Hitler’s beliefs regarding German racial supremacy and empire, have told the 95 percent of the German people who voted for Adolph Hitler on August 19, 1934 that to elect Hitler to the office of Fuhrer is to vote severely against one’s interest; that a vote for Adolph Hitler would be tantamount to initiating the destruction of Germany and every notion of law that Germany had stood for up to that moment?”

Mr. Clinton appears to periodically make statements that seem to validate and legitimize un-American and sometimes anti-humane behavior. So I wonder, “Does Mr. Clinton genuinely believe that all those past American votes for racists, anti-Semites, misogynists, xenophobes and violent religious zealots – votes which were often cast by Americans specifically on account of the expressed hateful beliefs of the candidates – were truly philosophically unassailable because “we can all vote for whomever we care to for whatever reasons?”

  2. Please ask former President Clinton what role he thinks the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, which he passed in conjunction with the Republicans, played in the current financial crisis.

Also, I'd like to hear an explanation of who NAFTA was designed to help and who it has harmed.

Thank you for considering these questions.

    Long Live the Stewart-Colbert hour!!!

  3. Dear Mr. President,

I have always been a strong supporter of yours. I lived through the impeachment hearings. I thought it was a load of bull. But I kept wondering why you didn´t just tell the American people it simply wasn´t any of their business? What is or is not done between consenting adults does not seem to me to be the business of others, whether you are President or not. Your thoughts?

    Sincerely,

    Glenn

  4. Dear President Clinton:

Why do you, George HW Bush, George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and numerous other politicians always talk about the "New World Order," and what does that mean exactly?

Why do you always SAY that the Democrats act differently and have different values, yet they are doing the same as the Republicans by not impeaching Bush & Cheney and his criminal gang?

    Peace,

    Peter

  5. Mr. President,

In your State of the Union speech in 2000, you talked about the record budget surplus and all of the wonderful opportunities that were achievable in the 21st century. It was truly a hopeful and exciting speech and, as a parent, I was very happy about the possibilities for world peace, environmental sustainability and technological advancement that were ahead for my children. Could you have imagined then that it would only take one administration 8 short years to f*** it all up?

  6. Why did President Clinton show such a lack of support for Barack Obama during his recent appearance on The View. Why did he say that John McCain is ready to be president? Does he really believe that? Is he hoping McCain will become president so that Hillary can run against him in four years? He also said that he likes McCain very much. Really, after all the flip-flopping on issues, lies about Barack Obama, and negative campaign attacks, he likes John McCain and thinks he is ready to be president?

  7. Jon, ask Mr. Clinton why he's constantly praising John McCain and Sarah Palin, yet has nothing good to say about the guy that's actually his parties' nominee, Barack Obama. Does he think that this behaviour would help Senator Clinton if she decides to run again in 4 (if Obama loses) or 8 years?

by tjkeller September 23rd at 6:26PM
  8. I think the thing a lot of you are missing is, Bill was speaking as a bipartisan guy for his Global Inititative, not at the DNC. So he's courteous to the Repulicans, and so on. He did say that he thought Obama would win, and gave a good analysis as to why. Too many of us demand some kind of party loyality above all.

    by Jim H September 23rd at 6:30PM
  9. Please ask Mr. Clinton:
    1. How do you think a (2nd) Clinton administration would differ from an Obama administration in dealing with the current financial crisis?
    2. Why have you not spoken well of Senator Obama until the DNC?
    3. What do you think of John McCain's VP choice, Sarah Palin and how that affects Senator Obama and peoples' choice on who to vote for?

    by Nathan W. September 23rd at 6:52PM
  10. It is unconscionable and incomprehensible to me that two Senators running for president issued statements that they will not attend the Senate vote on the $7,000,000,000.00 bail out, if it happens this weekend, so that they can prep and hold their debate.
In what career other than politics can you tell your boss that you will not work on your current responsibilities because you are working on your potential future promotion?

Shouldn't both Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama both attend the vote?
