…several agents arrived at Kernell's Knoxville apartment in The Commons student housing complex shortly after midnight on Sunday morning while a party was in progress. Kernell and some of his friends reportedly fled when agents arrived… FBI agents asked partygoers who did not live in the apartment to wait outside while they photographed the residence.
Man, I had no idea those 4 Chan guys partied until the wee hours of midnight. I gotta hang with those insanely creepy trolls.
And you know the FBI only took pictures of the apartment so they could put them up on facebook with captions like, "check out this dweebs Dr. Who dvd collection. he's tots a virgin! lol!"
Palin's Yahoo account, gov.palin@yahoo.com, was infiltrated late Tuesday night by someone who used publicly available information about Palin (her birthdate, zip code and information about where she met her husband) to bypass Yahoo security measures and reset her password to "popcorn."
I agree with the troll ideology that those who are dumb enough to get hacked deserve it. I mean, for someone in possible legal trouble to make such an easy mark of themselves. What was Palin thinking? I'm glad those hackers taught her a lesson.
On Thursday, a person claiming responsibility for the intrusion posted information to 4chan purporting to describe how he accessed Palin's account. The post was made under the handle "rubico," which bloggers quickly connected to an e-mail account, rubico10@yahoo.com, which they then connected to David Kernell.
His Achille's Heel was completely not understanding how the internet works. His other Achille's Heel is psoriasis, but I don't think that lead to his arrest this time.
If only life for David Kernell was more like the 1995 Angelina Jolie movie Hackers. He could avoid the impending jail time. But then he'd have to be played by Matthew Lillard.
Hmmm… Nevermind. That's probably worse than jail.

The stories I've read quote him, while still an anonymous hacker, as immediately regretting his decision to hack Palin's account due to his only having used one level of proxy server to cover his tracks. He knew from the get-go that the FBI had an easy shot at him. But then, he goes and gives interviews and brags about it!! He seemed to think that if he found some incriminating shit he'd be in the pink, but as soon as he realized there was nothing really important in her email account he freaked because, OMG, he might actually get caught and nothing to show for it. I guess he thought the FBI would give him a pat on the back for saving them a whole pile of trouble "getting the goods" on the VP candidate. I mean, nevermind warrants and shit like that. Apparently that's for pussies.
The bit I love about this is Davie's dad is a (D) State Representative in Tennessee. Did he really think this would help his pop's political career.
