Hey you know that thing about the debates maybe being postponed by McCain and how you thought it sounded like utter bullshit?

Well, Barack Obama agrees with you…

[A] senior Obama campaign official said Obama "intends to debate… The debate is on."

But, wait a minute. How in tarnation can a country deal with both legislation on economic matters and a presidential debate? That would be like trying to listen to the news and take a show at the same time, wouldn't it?

Obama supporter and chief debate negotiator Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., told MSNBC that "we can handle both," when asked about his reaction to McCain's call to postpone the first debate because of the administration's bailout plan.

He believes they are making good progress on Capitol Hill on the bailout and his initial reaction is that the work on the Hill should not preclude the debate from taking place.

Well, for one thing, I don't believe that Congress is making "good progress" with anything, so that kind of tarnishes Emanuel's statement.

But, on the other hand, I can't really see why a nighttime debate would make it harder to legislate during the day. So, I just don't know.

One thing I do know for sure, though, is that you should expect to hear a lot of things like, "Barack Obama would rather lose an economy than an election."

Or something that makes more sense than that.
