Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner Have a Statement, Too!
One of the biggest stories yesterday was John McCain and Barack Obama's joint statement on the need for action in fixing the economy.
Well, four can play at that game! There's no monopoly in Washington on bipartisan joint statements. For the record, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and House Republican leader John Boehner teamed up to issue a joint statement of their own last night…
Working in a bipartisan manner, we have made progress. We agree that key changes should be made to the Administration's initial proposal. It must include basic good-government principles, including rigorous and independent oversight, strong executive compensation standards, and protections for taxpayers.
We are committed to continuing to work cooperatively and on a bipartisan basis to safeguard the interests of American taxpayers.
Subtext: "Take that, McCain and Obama! You guys may get the bipartisan limelight, but we're just as bipartisan as you — if not more so. And to drive the point home, we're now going to kiss."

Anagramed:
Nancy: "To a Veto? Nae! John's Boner Healed me Taint!"
If you're pissed off about the proposed $700 billion bailout, I urge you to call your congressional representatives and senators and ask that they do their part to ensure that this bill does not pass either the House or the Senate. We cannot allow this proposal to pass and further screw the American taxpayers and the free market.
