Yes, We Can!… Hang Barack Obama in Effigy

POSTED BY: Ethan Ris

Well, we knew that race would be a huge factor in this race, and that the Democrats were taking a big risk by nominating, for the first time ever, an African-American for the presidency. But we never thought it would come to this.

Barack Obama has been lynched. In effigy. By college students. In Oregon.

Yes, you heard that right. Oregon was supposed to be friendly territory for Obama, and certainly college students are supposed to be his biggest fans. And yet here they are, lynching him in effigy!

It seems that four students at George Fox University, a Christian college in Newberg, Oregon, have confessed to the lynching, which took place on a tree on campus. They are now being investigated by the FBI for a possible hate crimes indictment.

I thought that lynching was a thing of the past, but apparently in 2008 it's a part of presidential politics. And the reality is that this is solely Obama's burden to bear, because no similar threat exists for John McCain.

Well, I guess someone could pull the plug on him.

  1. Man, that's depressing!

  3. screw that, that is terrible. EVOLVE! if you have to be hateful, do it like i do. Understand that the only race is human and so i am a racist because i hate the human race. thank you.

  4. It's tough doing comedy and lynching… except these stupid fucks used fishing wire. He wasn't strangled in effigy. Assholes.

  5. You know, they do this kind of thing to get hype out, and while I believe that any press is good press, I also believe that incidents like this shouldn't even be acknowledged.

Yeah they bought into it, but really, should the rest of us?

  6. How is it wrong for them to hang obama and yet someone in cali can get away with doing the same to sara pailn. Either way it is tacky, but it cant be one sided like that. I dont personally care that he is black. The past is the past. I may hang a cardboard figure of barack in my front yard as well.

  7. I totally agree with the last comment. Why would it be bad for somebody to hang Obama in effigy, but it was not bad to do the same to Palin in California? Tacky and horrible for both yes, but come on people, stop falling for the media bias. If we are all truly equal, then we are all truly equal. I believe that we are – but do you?? Once again, come on people and start thinking (truly thinking) for yourselves. :)

  8. Man,
Oregon is the last place I expected to see something like this happen.I've visited there and people seemed friendly. However, I do know alot of "true christians" who are closet racists and feel they are superior to everyone.I guess intolerance is everywhere.
I'm from the south where stuff like this happened alot in the 60's, 70,s and 80's, but people down here have come around to getting along (you have to, or your economy will suffer. What company wants to worry about racial issues.) I guess Oregon is the new south, with a case of redneck migration.

  9. Get over it, all of you McCain haters.
If it is alright to "hang" Sarah Palin, it is more than alright to "hang" Obama.
    What's fair is fair.

  10. I am a life-long female democrat and think it's terrible that the Palin effigy wasn't considered a crime but the Obama one was. The actions of the people who created both of them should be prosecuted to the fullest extend. And, as an Italian-American who understands the history between the African-American community and lynchings, it's important for people to know that Italians suffered the largest amount of lynchings in US history. It's time for people to start speaking up for reprehensible actions regardless of race, religion, creed or ethinicity.
