When it comes to politics CNN likes to give the people what they want: Political analysis they can understand.

That's why Bill Schneider recently spoke about Obama's gains in Florida with a storytelling device much beloved by the American people: analytically-impaired metaphor…

"The campaign season is like the hurricane season," said Bill Schneider, CNN's senior political analyst. "Florida lies directly in its path. Hurricane Obama hit Florida, and Hurricane McCain. Tropical Storms Biden and Palin made landfall in the Sunshine State. The impact? Over the last two weeks, Barack Obama has been gaining support in Florida."

You get it? No? Well, see, Florida gets hit by hurricanes. And the result of hurricanes, I mean, competing hurricanes, is that one hurricane typically gains support. No? Well, yeah, true. The result is typically destruction and death, but that's not the point of this metaphor. This is a metaphor about a Presidential candidate and his VP (and/or tropical storm). Because that's what a tropical storm is. A meteorological phenomenon that becomes a hurricane, if the hurricane gets killed. No?

Hmm. What else does Florida have? Amusement parks? OK. How about this…

Campaign season is like travel season. Now Disneyworld Obama is offering free rides on Space Mountain, but Universal Studios McCain has that cool Spider-Man ride. The result? Floridians are opting for Fast Pass rather than standing in line to ride the Biden/Palin dolphins at Sea World. Long story short. Obama up by 5 if you know what I mean.
