Kristen Schaal Hosts The Daily Show
Sarah Palin has shown Kristen Schaal that women can do anything they jump headfirst into. That's why she's decided to take over Jon's hosting duties.
Could a Sarah Palin vice presidency have the same outcome?
PERMALINK:

Very good Kristen, but next time more religious fervor.
Kristen Schaal another fine example of putting one's talentless relatives on television…
Kristen is hilarious on Conchords.
That being said, her segments have been brutally unfunny. And Sam B. is adequate at best.
Belushi, in general, was correct.
I apologize in advance.
I <3 Kristen Schaal.
her daily show work is a lot like the early stuff from Sarah Silverman. Not everybody is going to get it.
Woof, you may be right about Kristen, although her schtick last night was pretty damn good. But you are wrong, wrong, wrong about Samantha Bee. She's top-drawer. I for one am more than a bit tired of seeing Favorite Son John Oliver — I think Sam, Rob Riggle, and Aasif Mandvi really carry the show.
If anybody knows Kristen, ask her to comment on what she thinks about a constitutional ammendment regarding privacy. Caroline Kennedy would be the top person to consult on that issue. She's been studying it for a long time now. There should be limits set on how much the government and the media can get involved in personal and family issues (such as women's reproductive health and male candidate philandering). The supreme court has been legislating from the bench for quite some time now. I want strict interpretation by supreme court judges, not creation of "rights" that are not under the provision of the constitution.
People, we are not going to get good candidates if all we can elect are people who have never made personal mistakes. Abortion is a WOMEN'S issue and should not subjected to governmental debate and controversy, particularly a government where males outnumber women significantly. It should not be a political football. As a woman I say, politicians, stop talking about my private parts, y'all. You don't even know me. Thank you.
Kristan's comedic performance was brilliant. It was pretty evident that it was a spoof on Palin, a fairly good natured attack I'd say. I was pretty much in stiches until Samantha Bee came on and then it turned ugly. As in the SNL skit, there is a persistent effort to portray Hillary Clinton, who was obviously being spoofed by Bee, as an egomaniac as in "I wanted" with an emphasis on "I." That's not funny because it's a distortion of Hillary Clinton's character and one that I'm really tired of. Then to top it off, and make it uglier, the Palin character falls apart under pressure, acts like she couldn't rise to a challenge. That's distasteful because Palin is a woman who in my mind is similar to Erin Brockovitch who many may remember as someone who was underestimated but who ended up coming through for many people and making a real difference in their lives. It seems her dedication to common people made her rise to the challenge.
Overall, I'd say this campaign season has brought out the worst kind of cynicism in the Daily Show. It used to be one of my favorite shows but I've disappointed these past few months with the level of nastiness has interfered with my enjoyment of the Daily Show. These days I have to admit, I don't really care much if I miss it. Just too negative for me. I like my humor a little more on the lighter side. I prefer Colbert for that reason.
I ran into the Kristen Schaal clip when Googling "Daily Show Women" — I was searching for comments on the lack of women on the Daily Show — other than Samantha Bee (who I can't stand, seeing her as neither funny nor appealing). Otherwise, I love Jon Stewart and show. I just don't understand why there are no women on it. America has a huge pool of very talented female comedians. Why are they ostracized?
