It was pretty evident that it was a spoof on Palin, a fairly good natured attack I'd say. I was pretty much in stiches until Samantha Bee came on and then it turned ugly. As in the SNL skit, there is a persistent effort to portray Hillary Clinton, who was obviously being spoofed by Bee, as an egomaniac as in "I wanted" with an emphasis on "I." That's not funny because it's a distortion of Hillary Clinton's character and one that I'm really tired of. Then to top it off, and make it uglier, the Palin character falls apart under pressure, acts like she couldn't rise to a challenge. That's distasteful because Palin is a woman who in my mind is similar to Erin Brockovitch who many may remember as someone who was underestimated but who ended up coming through for many people and making a real difference in their lives. It seems her dedication to common people made her rise to the challenge. Overall, I'd say this campaign season has brought out the worst kind of cynicism in the Daily Show. It used to be one of my favorite shows but I've disappointed these past few months with the level of nastiness has interfered with my enjoyment of the Daily Show. These days I have to admit, I don't really care much if I miss it. Just too negative for me. I like my humor a little more on the lighter side. I prefer Colbert for that reason. Caroline Kennedy would be the top person to consult on that issue. She's been studying it for a long time now. There should be limits set on how much the government and the media can get involved in personal and family issues (such as women's reproductive health and male candidate philandering). The supreme court has been legislating from the bench for quite some time now. I want strict interpretation by supreme court judges, not creation of "rights" that are not under the provision of the constitution. People, we are not going to get good candidates if all we can elect are people who have never made personal mistakes. Abortion is a WOMEN'S issue and should not subjected to governmental debate and controversy, particularly a government where males outnumber women significantly.
