Alaska Panel Finds Sarah Palin Guilty of Douchiness
So, remember that Troopergate business that was kind of haunting Governor Palin's first few weeks of VP-nominationhood but was ultimately mostly overtaken by her obvious ineptitude?
It's back, and this time it's looking more potent…
A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.
The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.
This might sound bad like a bad thing for a U.S. governor/vice-presidential nominee, and it probably would be for any other.
But for Sarah Palin, it really just reinforces her reputation as a maverick. Assuming what she's mavericking from is the law.

@mary-m
TODD PALIN was part of a group that wanted to secede from the United States. The leader of that group wants nothing to do with the USA and wants to see its flag under rubble (or some other BS).
That means he's "pal-ing around with Terrorists".
The First Dude HATES AMERICA.
The first lady of Alaska has 20 months of experiences and already has abused power and used a personal Yahoo account for government buiness to skirt around the law.
She's unfit for duty.
She can't handle a conversation with Katie Couric, but she's ready to face Putin if he "rears his head".
She's an unqualified nutjob.
ARE YOU KIDDING???
It blows my mind that she is still in the running for VP. If I recall, it wasnt to long ago that there has been a couple politicians that have volentarily resigned for less. It's not right to say its ok what she did because she wears lipstick! She obviously cant abide by the law let alone right laws, pass laws or inforce them. This makes me sick to my stomach that anyone would even consider voting for her. I demand her immediate resignation!!!
@mary-m
The bi-partisan investigative committee was not isimply investigating Gov. Palin's actions in trying to remove Trooper Wooten from the force. If what she alleges about his behaviors is true, they were abusive and/or indicative of very poor judgment, and he perhaps should not be in the employ of any police force. However, the investigation was concerned with the efforts of the entire Palin family, and Gov. Palin specifically, to pressure Monegan to fire Wooten, and with the subsequent firing of Monegan. To deny that a woman, acting as governor of a state, and with the entire weight of state power behind her, cannot be abusive is to subscribe to a peculiar sort of prejudice. Not all men are powerful and reprehensible; not all women are powerless and virtuous.
Why don't you get it right. Your statement is incorrect. She did NOT abuse her power in firing that idiot, her abuse was not telling her husband to back off. Get the story before you spout BS.
Mary, what you fail to understand is that for state employees there is something called "the merit system". What it is deaigned to do is protect state employees from the whims of politicians. It is specifically set up so that a Governor or legislator can't walk into a department director's office and say, "I demand you fire this person.". The most they are allowed to say is "I want you to look into this person.". After that it is in the hands of the Director and the state HR.
You can't allow politicians into the process. If they were it would create easy paths for corruption, a good-ok-boy network, and nepotism. Not to mention it creates a disgruntled work force with a high turn over rate.
I'm not defending brother-in-law. The guy sounds like a Grade A asshole. But it is never a Governor's decision on the hiring and firing of staff level state employees. I don't care what the employee is accused of. There is a process that needs to be followed and they are not a part of it.
Think two words……Dick Nixon. And five others, "I…am not a crook."
Oh, do tell.
I guess, McPain was truly meant to be. They both send their spouses out to do their dirty work.
i read this headline outloud and i gotta say…"douchiness" is a fun word to say.
palin's an idiot.
I have not read the report, but I have heard several reports on the radio.
Honestly, the real issue is John McCain's judgment in picking someone with her background and credentials. You can honestly call him on that.
But WTF?!?! Why is Todd Palin all up in the Public Safety Commissioner's face? What did he have to do with any of it, other than being Sarah-cuda's hubbie? It's all so unseemly, and apparently that did not bother the Palin family. I can see them wanting to protect Sarah P's sister from a douchnozzle (I don't know if Wooten's a douchenozzle, but they felt he was so what do I know?) but the whole hiring/firing thing is just none of their biz, really. They were way off base to get involved in that, and apparently this committee agreed with that sentiment.
So, once more we have more evidence that John McCain did a poor job when it comes to picking his VP.
Heil Palin.
