Alaska Panel Finds Sarah Palin Guilty of Douchiness
So, remember that Troopergate business that was kind of haunting Governor Palin's first few weeks of VP-nominationhood but was ultimately mostly overtaken by her obvious ineptitude?
It's back, and this time it's looking more potent…
A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.
The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.
This might sound bad like a bad thing for a U.S. governor/vice-presidential nominee, and it probably would be for any other.
But for Sarah Palin, it really just reinforces her reputation as a maverick. Assuming what she's mavericking from is the law.

What I hope is that Sarah Palin does not lower expectations for women and take us back 20 years! She as an individual seems quite capable of flirting and bullying her way to what she wants without having the substance, intelligence, integrity, and experience to actually do the job she has (gov) or aspires to do (VP with powers beyond the constitution or better yet she wants to be President — argh!!!!). Serious delusion would enable someone like this — male or female — to claim they have a calling to this work and thus substance, intelligence, integrity, and experience don't matter!!!!! Let's not allow Sarah Palin to do anything other than show us an example of a person who tried but failed to be elected. She is not an example of what it means to be a woman and a leader — she is an example of what a woman pretending to be a leader is! I have been a Republican and I am disgusted that John McCain tried this ploy in picking Palin when there were so many other Republican women of substance, intelligence, integrity and experience he could have selected. (Not me though — I'm not in public life.) Palin is a ploy to seal the vote of women and it has not worked because she is an individual that cannot do the job — so heaven help us if somehow that happens. News Alert to All: Women are not stupid. So don't send us another Palin (or Palin herself) in another 4 years.
Good job Palin looks like you're going out with style!
Hello. I heard this on the news yesterday and I do not believe (although it'd be great) that Palin committed a crime. She breached her professional ethical duties. If you look at the Alaska statute provided by 4ObamaInKY that is merely a prohibition on ethical conduct but not a crime in the legal sense of the word. Thus, unless The Alaska Constitution provides for impeachment due to a breach of ethical guidelines (which it doesn't I believe as opposed to U.S. con law "high crimes and misdemeanors") they can't do shit to do her aside from vote her out office. Also the statute uses language like "may" and not "shall." Permissive language as opposed to mandatory. This doesn't mean that she's not not unethical and be stoned as a witch.
You know what I think would give McCain the push he needs to pick up a point or 2 on Obama (Not enough to win, but stop the freefall) -
"My friends, it has become obvious that my advisors made a serious serious mistake in recommending Ms. Palin as my running mate. Certainly I would not have chosen her if I had realized she had little to no knowledge or interest in areas of importance to the running of this wonderful Country. Her excess baggage is getting more publicity than my plans for the future which I believe in so heartedly. I hope I live many many more years in service to my Country; but also appreciate my age and medical history. It is a possibilty that I may leave this world having orchestrated the Presidency of Ms. Palin. Many people are terribly worried about this prospect. On the strength of recent relevations, the thought of possibly leaving my family, much less the world, in the hands of a potentially disfunctional President is most troubling to me.
With this in mind, I am admitting my misguided mistake, and am asking Ms. Palin to step down as my running mate.
She has tried her best, and I sincerely thank her for that. I wish her only the best for the future.
I will make a new choice for VP as soon as Ms. Palin is given the dignity of resigning.
Thank you for your attention!
@Paul
Your scenario would allow McCain to salvage some personal honor and dignity in his otherwise (now) largely disreputable campaign. He would do well even to copy your wording of the announcement, as it places the onus for his unfortunate choice of Palin where it belongs and indicates clearly that the welfare of the country matters more than his need to be elected.
I notice that she is still on the campaign trail this morning. One would have thought she herself would have resigned from the ticket, for the reasons which you have outlined.
While this doesn't surprise me, I have to agree with the previous post. John McCain could earn some points by admitting to the mistake of having Palin as his VP.
As a woman, a tiny part of me would have liked to have seen Palin be a success, but quite frankly, she is an embarrassment. I say this because I read reports on other countries words on her…"If Palin is defeated, that is a victory for the world." And Russia- they're having a field day with her. They also make the a very true, yet scary point that she shouldn't be talking about having to go to war with Russia if necessary. While many do not like Hilary, at least she knows what she's talking about and you can't argue her experience and education. But Palin- the only thing she knows how to do is make wise ass remarks. She is JUST NOW jumping on the "Obama is friends with the terrorists" bandwagon that was debunked MONTHS ago.
No, she did not committ a crime in trying to have her ex-brother-in-law fired, but after I read 50+ pages of the report, it appears that she did VIOLATE the ethics code. The way I see this is…if she has violated the ethics code as Governor, what would stop her from doing it as Vice President, or God forbid, PRESIDENT?! Nothing. We've already had a disaster for a President these past 8 years. McCain and Palin won't be any different.
Obama/Biden 2008!

So take your "I'll support the white woman/Republicans under any circumstances" bullmalarky to FoxNews.com or somewhere else where no one will call you on it, because if you took your comments and spread it around roses, they would flourish.
It might interest you to know that my younger son has a little African-American girlfriend. She's been for him. Not like that crazy white one he had last year who always wanted to fight. We love her.
I don't like cops who abuse their authority and there are far too many of them around. So I don't mind the Palins trying to get rid of that guy. Doesn't bother me at all. The good old boy thing has got to end at some point.
Power corrupts. Alaskan power corrupts alaskalutely.
I would just like to say that Sarah Palin has added spark to the Republican Party. She is all American and has the spunk that others seem to be afraid to show. I hope, with all my heart, that she is elected with John McCain to straighten out our country and get us back our feet to recovery!
Joe Bama is correct, don't Juneau! (doncha know)
