Wisconsin Welcomes John McCain with Patriotic Display of Outrage

POSTED BY: Mary Phillips-Sandy

The Dow may be plummeting, but there's one index that keeps going higher and higher: the collective blood pressure of John McCain's supporters.

As yesterday's rallies in Wisconsin proved, a lot of Republicans are angry. Very, very angry

There were shouts of "Nobama" and "Socialist" at the mention of the Democratic presidential nominee. There were boos, middle fingers turned up and thumbs turned down as a media caravan moved through the crowd Thursday for a midday town hall gathering featuring John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Did I say angry? I meant boiling over with fury.

"I'm mad! I'm really mad!" another man said, taking the microphone and refusing to surrender it easily, even when McCain tried to agree with him.

Rule number one: Never try to come between an outraged man and his microphone.

"Senator Obama has a clear radical, far-left, pro-abortion record," McCain said after being asked about the issue.

The answer prompted a shower of boos from the crowd members. They booed again when he mentioned William Ayers, who bombed U.S. facilities to protest the Vietnam War as part of the domestic terrorist group the Weather Underground. They booed again at the mention of Rep. Barney Frank, a liberal from Massachusetts.

To be fair, that last part is just a local way of honoring the Packers' victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI.

But seriously, what's the next move for John McCain, he of the bipartisan nature and aisle-reaching-across record? Well, here's the ad he's launching in Wisconsin today…

That should calm everybody right down.

  1. John and Sarah we are praying daily that God does not hand our
country over to the devil; Obama. BUT YOU TWO MUST GET AGGRESSIVE.. BE MAD TOO LIKE THE MAN IN WISCONSIN. SHOW YOUR DISCUST FOR THE TYPE PERSON OBAMA IS AND HOW HIS
LACK OF LEADERSHIP AND HIS TIES TO MUSLIM-TERRISM WILL
    DISTROY OUR NATION UNDER GOD.
YOU HAVE SO LITTLE TIEMT O FIGHT BACK. DO IT NOW. BE TOUGH
IN THE DEBATE..WE WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY..BUT YOU TWO MUST
BE STRONG TOO. ALLEN AND JACKIE CASON, ODESSA, TX

  3. Whoa, the Republicans are getting nasty now that the writing is on the wall that McCain's judgement (or lack of judgement) in appointing Sarah Barracuda as his running mate was a huge mistake. She may have rallied a few unenlightened people who fell for the folksy hockey mom shtick but most Americans realize that there is more at stake here than "Hottie Gov goes to Washington and solves the nation's problems with her spunky folksy common sense." The country is in a financial and national security crisis mode and they are talking about a loose association with a former war protester. If that is the best they can come up with God love em. McCain has made it apparent that he couldn't lead anyone out of a paper bag never mind make the best decisions for our country.

  4. Saw here speaking this morning on CNN. Hitting the abortion issue pretty hard and talking about little else. I'm guessing they are throwing in the towel now and letting her spout off on her hot button issue before November when she will be unceramoniously returned to Alaska.

  5. Jackie and Allen,
Can you tell me how Obama is tied to "muslim-terrism" (by which you mean Islamic Terrorism; No it's not spelled "terrism")? Ayers was not a "muslim-terrist" and even so, McCain has just as many ties to Ayers as Obama does. And by "BE MAD TOO LIKE THE MAN IN WISCONSIN. SHOW YOUR DISCUST(disgust) FOR THE TYPE [of] PERSON OBAMA IS," do you mean the racist one or the woman who didn't trust him because she thought he was an Arab or the one who said "kill him" (which by the suggested assassination of a Senator is a terrorist threat in itself) ? You don't have to like Obama, in fact I myself am opposed to a few of his positions, but your reasoning for not liking him is flawed and I would say it's ignorant at best. I don't care who you decide to support, but at least do some homework, be a true patriot, read some news that doesn't come from Fox, and make an informed decision on who would best lead the country. If you want to support McCain, instead of making his supporters look even worse, do some research and find what good he has to offer. It is truly sad to see the record and legacy of one of the best Senators of the past several decades to be mutilated and destroyed by his filthy, despicable campaign advisors, and ignorant support of racist morons.

  6. At least McCain had the integrity to keep that nasty desperate crowd from getting totally out of control. People like the fairly illiterate Allen and Jackie are the really scary ones. It seems that the Republican handlers (via Palin and others) would have people believe that Obama would have flown a plane into the Sears tower if he had gotten the memo from his terrorist buddies and wants all children to become sexually active at an early age so they can get abortions which we will be paying for in our socialist state if he becomes president. Oh and Snoop Dog will be the Secretary of State and Jesse Jackson will be his Chief of Staff. Let's talk about the real issues facing our country including the financial and economic crises and the war that is sucking billions of dollars from our treasury and wasting the lives of our brave young men and women. Allen and Jackie crawl back into your hole and Palin go back to Alaska and keep an eye on Russia for us why don't you?

  7. She [Sarah Palin] makes such statements from behind a "Country First" placard, an interesting irony considering her involvement in the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP), an organization that trumpets, "Alaska First!"
From 1994 to 2002, Todd Palin [First Dude] was a registered member of the AIP, founded by Joe Vogler. Vogler declared in 1991: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag."
If that's not unpatriotic, I don't know what is.
If the McCain campaign would rather talk about patriotism than policy, voters need to know that the Palins have recent and direct connections with an organization whose founder hated the United States of America so much he created a group to help him secede from our country. Sarah personally addressed the AIP convention in 2006 and 2008.
I don't believe my country is perfect, but I love it. I would no sooner join a secessionist organization than I would leave my family to join the circus. I expect at least that much commitment from my elected officials, particularly those who would inhabit the White House.
*I borrowed this from a letter in my local newspaper. All of the quotes and dates do check out.

  8. Awwww, man…You know, as I go through so many different websites and read different blogs, it seems to me that the McCain/Palin supporters always have some uneducated answers and comments to give. The Obama supporters, however, know their shit… and speak out on it! And I love that about the Obama supporters, because we dont go into a fight with no knowledge..or insist on bringing up things that all of America knows are not complete truths. But what I fear most are the ignorant people who are so mad when they hear Obama's name. I have never seen people so furious at any other candidate before…EVER!!!! As a black woman in America, I hate to bring up race in anything or try to make it an excuse, but I really feel that that is what is fueling this fire. These people are afraid to have a black man running the country, and they will stop at nothing to spread lies and keep fueling their crowds with hate. They know they have virtually no chance at winning and the time is drawing more and more near election day. Those people are going to shit their pants when history is made. I could go on forever and ever about this, but I will stop here. If they weren't so afraid of him, they would talk about real issues and stop blowin stuff that has nothing to do with the campaign out of proportion. Oh, I did say a couple sentences ago I would stop there, didn't I?

  10. That entire McCain ad is like one, big, hairy shit and a smell of roses as the theme music comes on to say he "approves this message."
