Dead People vs. Dumb People: Who Will Decide the Election?

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

Ben Smith considers the twin specters of voter fraud and voter suppression

One thing to keep in mind as this fight continues over the next three weeks: This sparring is ritualistic, and automatic. Republicans always raise the fears of voting fraud, though there has yet to be evidence of double voting. Democrats always raise fears of voter suppression (as the Obama campaign did in the primary as well).

Anecdotes of both — Acorn's registration mess; a contested report in Michigan about challenging voters who lost their homes — are wildly overblown.

What matters more than these media wars, though, is what's going on on the ground…

So true. The race truly is on to see how many corpses the Democrats can walk into voting booths, Weekend at Bernie's style, to pull the lever with their limp hands vs. how many many people the Republicans can trick into thinking that voting begins bright and early Wednesday, November 5th on the moon.

That's what its always come down to, since time immemorial.

  2. Personally I wouldn't vote for either candidate…they are both pretty disappointing. The only good thing about this election are the viral websites like http://www.ispalinshaved.com ….at least we get a few laughs, because the way I see it both of these candidates control our futur, and it isn't funny putting my future into the hands of the incompetent!

  3. I sometimes wish that I was American at this time so that my vote would amount to something as a human being. Are Americans really willing to give a war-mongering Bush clone, hell-bent on raising Iraq to the ground, the power to represent them? And are they happy to be presented to the world as a nation which can fall in love with a woman who declares to be pro-life yet delights in shooting dead anything on four legs which does not have a gun in its hand. And a woman(?) who is against the sometimes necessary needs of other women on the subject of abortion.
God help you if you allow either of these two cretins to rule you and make your decisions for you.

  4. What's McCains comeback song? Raising McCain. I believe he just needs a real catchy tune – like 'Pepsodent – you'll wonder where the yellow went' or 'I love to be an Oscar Meyer Weiner' or even 'Give Peace a Chance'. Whups. Should said 'Barbara Ann' err 'bomb Iran'.

They both need better songwriters. What would Joe the Bide' tune be? Or Mrs. Palin.

  9. It has been this way for Democracies since the hotly contested Roman Counsel elections of 59BC were Julius Caesar won by using necromancers to raise a horde of zombies to vote after Cato the Republican successfully purged a third of the Roman electorate due the year “Zero AD” bug. Our politicians are just following in the footsteps of vote fixing giants of the past.

It was worth noting that Cato also attacked Caesar on experience (Vini Vidi, Whoi?) Caesar countered the attack was unfair due to Caesar experience as a POW of the Cilician pirates. Some things never change.
