Meet the newest 50-something political heartthrob on the CW: Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)!

Well maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but Schumer did get his name dropped on the network's Gossip Girl, which is the most popular show on Capitol Hill now that Mark Foley isn't around to change the channel to Jonas Brothers.

During the show, which focuses on the lives of Manhattan's most privileged teens, popular frienemies Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf visit the campus of Yale University and reminisce over an intense Yale-Harvard football game they attended as 9-year-olds. Serena recalls that during the game, Blair tackled Schumer's daughter, because she was presumably wearing a Harvard sweatshirt.

Schumer's daughters, Jessica and Alison, are a few years older than the angst-ridden teen characters on "Gossip Girl," but the reference isn't too far off — the Senator graduated from Harvard, and both Schumer sisters followed their dad there.

Although Schumer can't get his three Congressional roommates to give him the remote long enough to watch Gossip Girl, he can look forward to watching some re-runs down the road, assuming C-SPAN succeeds in buying their rights.

In the meantime, political TV junkies can bide their time watching ex-Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN) on NBC, Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) and Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) on ESPN Classic, and Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) on Court TV.
