I don't want the Palins' life, Neiman Marcus or not. I like my life as it is, pretty much, except for the current political climate. There's only one thing I would change about my life. I would have begun voting Democratic much earlier than I did!

Oh. wrong — I just re-read the last 3 lines of your 12:26 AM post. Your satire is heavy-handed but (finally) makes its point with me. It is no more cruel to ridicule special-needs children than it is to refuse federal funding to address their needs. The logical extension of conservative policies is to roll back funding for all "welfare" programs. This is what die-hard conservatives devoutly wish, and it would deny support to millions of the most vulnerable in our society, especially ALL kinds of children.

A society's greatness is measured by how well it cares for its weakest and most vulnerable members. We will be great again, as a people, when we act consistently on this principle. Thank you, "wrong," for prodding us to righteous indignation.
