Is Anybody Still Supporting John McCain? Anybody?

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

Jesus! The Republican Party sure is hemorrhaging conservative support as the last grains of sand twirl through the election hour glass.

Earlier today, we got news that former U.S. Press Secretary Scott "The Weasel" McClellan — who recently came out against the Bush administration's illegal activities in the Iraq debacle about six years too late — will be voting for Barack Obama.

Now we're finding out that an actual honest-to-god McCain campaign adviser, Charles Fried, has already voted for Obama. His rationale? Because of McCain's "choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis."

And — since we're already feeling light-headed from the blood loss — we might as well go all the way and watch two conservatives give their reasons for voting against McCain from tonight's edition of Hardball: former Massachusetts governor and Mitt Romney supporter William Weld and the world's drunkest intellectual and Iraq War apologist, Christopher Hitchens. Weld, in his Obama endorsement, is very respectful of McCain. Hitchens is less so (and, therefore, more entertaining), calling McCain "weird" several times and implying that he might even be going senile. No, I correct myself… coming right out and saying that.

And that's just today. A few days ago, libertarian-conservative Christopher Buckley — who shares DNA with conservative icon William F. Buckley — sat down with Chris Matthews. After the jump…

And, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Buckley's recent conversation with Jon Stewart…

Is that enough anemia for now?

  1. Omen? McCain does Meet The Press in Waterloo… Iowa.

  2. Diana, I think you should not be afraid in the least. What you say makes no sense to me at all. God always provides "wiggle room" for the conscience.

So what does this have to do with Moses? Have you no praises to sing for Moses? Can you not even respect his name? Has anyone taught you? Shall you disrespect "religion" at every turn? Will you not agree on the best there is in all of us?

Must everyone go on about "Naylin Paylin?" What is wrong here? No wonder we are in the shape we're in.

I love Moses. I don't care what any of you have to say. The people who have no sincerity, hold nothing sacred. And it's just as well I wouldn't know anyone like that.

  3. The Anchorage Daily News today endorsed Obama. Yes, THAT Anchorage. In Alaska. Said Palin not ready to be VP.

  4. Arise you heathen. It is I, Her Majesty, the drama queen.

There shall be no further indecision in my kingdom.

  6. Looking over my blogsite, I see total disarray. An Atheist trying to tweak religion with gutter mouth, harboring a pornographic obsession with Sarah Palin no doubt. Homophobic "Christian" who believes we should all vote relative to the issue of abortion, more patriotic and holier than thou, no doubt. Old Testament aficionado spewing nonsense and giggling behind her keyboard no doubt. Not to mention numerous run on sentences and spelling errors. Total anarchy.

    ENOUGH!

Where is the keeper of the flame of Anor? I beseech thee. Torch this effigy of Charlton Heston. No guns, no religion, no clinging of any kind will be tolerated in the future. And above all, no seriousness.

And who is this McCain? Who IS John McCain?

  7. Hey, leave me alone. I'm retired. And get off my lawn.

  8. Gandalf the Grey-

How dare they put signs upon our lawns! We remove them and burn them in our fire pit.

How dare they spoil our fun with their politics?

  9. I have to confess here..I finally put up my Obama 08 sign in the front yard. I would say McCain signs were 10-0 in the neighborhood before one insane bugger put up an Obama/Biden sign. Then and only then did I put up mine and I am ashamed. But stay out of my yard, anyway.

  10. Someone stole my Obama sign. No matter. MD is totally in the tank for Barack, despite my Republican-leaning precinct. Guess the truth just hurt someone realll baaad.
