By calling Barack Obama a socialist, the McCain campaign is targeting its most important voter: Joe the McCarthy.

Clearly, during a time of war it un-American and socialist to raise taxes. That is right, our fellow Americans are dying and being maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan to protect us and this is how we show them support? Raising taxes! OUTRAGOUS!
Did the Founding Fathers "raise taxes" to support George Washington and the Continental Army at Valley Forge. HELL NOT! The Founding Fathers let the Continental Army pull themselves up by their boot straps by eating them.

I found it funny that Colbert quickly cut the interview off when the guy started spewing Obama-like comments regarding…

Hmmm… sounded a lot like Obama's plan for 'fairness'. The problem with this fellow was that he is confusing socialism with communism. Socialism is the ideaology–"share the wealth"… Communism is the tool in which Socialism is implemented–"government owned businesses". It's easy to confuse the two, when you believe in both… that line separating the two becomes trivial and fuzzy.
By this guy's own definition and Obama's own words… Obama is a Socialist! Just a fact, jack. Read his racist-filled memoirs, "Dreams from my Father", if you do not believe the truth.
There's something ringing very true to me about the recent newscasters and others calling Barack Obama a Marxist, calling him the "redistributionist," a socialist, and claiming he wants to make the United States like Sweden. Obama even spoke about rewarding not only capital, but rewarding the labor that creates value. Of course Obama has to reject these labels because they are so heavily laden in the U.S., just as he has had to reject claims that he is a Muslim. But like being a Muslim, going against orthodox free market economic doctrine is not in itself a bad thing. Especially if you believe in fairness and equity.
When Obama tells us he wants to tax the very rich, McCain slams this as class warfare. This when the U.S. is the most unequal wealthy country in the world. Americans are booing when McCain says Obama is out to redistribute their wealth – as if that isn't long-accepted standard practice in all civilized countries through taxation. McCain is lost in populist Boston Tea Party rhetoric arguing against taxes. And Americans are joyfully dumping their chamomile leaves into the harbor.
Socialism is when government owns the means of production. Obama is not a socialist – he does not want government running businesses, as Steve-o showed us all by bringing out the Socialist Party candidate for president. Thanks, buddy, for bobbling where no other bobble heads will go.
