Glad to see a bi-racial person was elected, BTW, Barry is not African American, very few people are. Most everyone is part black when you look at family trees. Too much has been said about the black or female issue this election. I think people should vote based on ability, not sex, or race. This election proves how egocentric people are.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify> profiling, do you? The civil rights act was signed into law by a democrat – July 2, 1964. You can quibble on the legislative support but it was more of a regional thing than a party thing – Republicans and Democrats in the south hated it while their northern colleauges generally supported. I cannot pretend to know how all this turned into the party demographics that we have today but you cannot just blow off the black vote by saying they should read history. Their is obviously something going on when 80+ % of a group supports the same party. And just because you do not know or understand it does not mean that it is based on ignorance.
FYI – The Republican party is very different from the party of Lincoln. I would argue that only the name is the connection that ties together then and now.
