Ralph Nader Isn't Calling Barack Obama a Race Traitor, But He's Got a Cabin Down South to Rent You for the Summer, if You Know What Ralph Nader is Saying

POSTED BY: Eric March

Ralph Nader has a lot of good ideas. I wish that Ralph Nader was tall, handsome and, most importantly, not a crazy old douchebag.

  1. First of all I think it's ironic that Fox News is the one doing the interview. I'm sure they've said pretty horrendous things about Obama that on the surface may seem relatively harmless, but are really low blows.

Secondly, I think that Nader made such a "controversial" comparison to get people's attention. He knew what he was saying. He's not an idiot. According to Wikipedia, "Stowe never meant Uncle Tom to be a degrading character, but the term as a pejorative has developed based on how later versions of the character, stripped of his strength, were depicted on stage.[1]…It is commonly used to describe black people whose political views or allegiances are considered by their critics as detrimental to blacks as a group."

And past comments are correct…Nader didn't CALL him that…he said he hopes he doesn't become that. He wants him to succeed and said that a few times. BUT, we do have to hold our politicians to higher standards. More than ever. Obama seems like a good person and has the potential to become a good president. HOWEVER, that doesn't give him permission to rest on his reputation and ignore the very people who helped him make history….i.e. lower and middle classes…just to serve the corporations that have given him heaps of money.

  2. Totally agree with Mossby "He was saying the statement pretty clearly. He wants to know whether or not he'll be an Uncle Sam supporter or an Uncle Tom-character. He never came out and called Obama an Uncle Tom, he was merely stating that he hopes he doesn't fall into the category. It's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be."
I think Barack will survive the comment. The PC Sensitive Plants would have expired from shock during the Sixties…..
I think Nathan was funny and very accurate: "Nader needs a friend to tell him to shut up.Well, first Nader needs to make a friend. And then that friend needs to tell him to shut up. "
Except that Ralph Nader is more right than you know about so many things – he'd make a terrible president but on the subject of corporate welfare he has never been MORE relevant. Should have listened to him in 2000. Did you? Were you even past puberty then?
Ralph is what he is… and I think he is a national treasure.

  3. Ralph Nader has become what he used to fight against: a hateful, disrespectful politician. And ironically in his actions he has become what he sought to do to the major parties: irrelevant. Nader is lucky that the networks don't cover him usually.

On the other hand, is Ralph Nader a giant deuchebag? The answer to that question is an obvious and astounding yes, not because of the comment he supposedly made but the fact that he hasn't realized he himself is what hurts his "party" if you want to call it that. Liken his "party" to the opening scene of ET; a bunch of teens sitting around waiting for their pepperoni pizza while playing D&D.
The man should do us all a huge favor and bow out. Not gracefully, as the time for that has been LONG gone. Just bow the **** out.

Well, first Nader needs to make a friend. And then that friend needs to tell him to shut up.

  6. I think Shep's first deadpan reactions and then gawping face are the best parts of this craptastic interview.

Is Nader going to run again? Ugh. Don't give him ideas.
