The Daily Show: Barack Obama Vets His Former Foes

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

The only thing Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton really disagree on is foreign policy, which is why it's strange he's considering her for his secretary of state. He doesn't get points for difficulty.

What do you think of Hillary Clinton in Obama's cabinet — assuming Bill makes it past the vetting process?

  1. She wouldnt be bad but i am still rooting for Colin Powell

  2. Hilary should stay as New York State senator. That might lead to majority leader position some day. Besides, hispanics will be happy if they pick Bill Richardson.

  3. Just about any other cabinet position would make more sense. She VOTED FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ! That's no small foreign policy difference. Neither is threatening to annhilate Iran. And her foreign policy experience is negligible, made-up stories about dodging bullets in Bosnia notwithstanding. Bill Richardson was Ambassador to the UN, and negotiated with North Korea, among other things. WAY more qualified for the position!

  4. I'm a feminist, and I respect Hillary, but as one who has been inside many embassies in Washington, I don't see State as her forte. Not only does she lack the experience (the experience she claimed during the campaign was greatly exaggerated), but she doesn't have the finesse of a true diplomat. She has a tough take-no-prisoners edge that does not reflect the spirit of the Obama presidency as I see it. I think she would be off-putting in diplomatic situations. The world loves Bill Clinton, not Hillary.
Bill Richardson is my choice for Secretary of State.

  5. Bill Richardson

or, since we're wishing, Russ Feingold

  6. As a person who lives on the other side of the Atlantic I don't see that there is a big difference between them on foreign policy. Maybe before the election but Obama moved a lot from left to centre positions. In some cases,as Israel/Palestine issue,he assumed a position close to the right.
The best thing in Hillary is that she will work her heart out during the job,she very intelligent and her experience as First Lady surely taught her something. She was amazing defendig women's rights and she was envolved with micro-credit. And lots of people in the world like her better than Bill (including me!)

  7. 1. Hillary in the position of delivering the President Barack Obama's foreign policy message to the world – there's just so much that does not seem right about that.
    2. Foreign relations experience? Hello?
    3. Vital trait needed for position – diplomacy -when I think diplomacy, Hillary Clinton does not leap to mind.
    4. This placement seems gratuitious and that irritates me immensely.
    5. Middle Eastern leaders do not respect tough, strong minded females it's the reality of the situation…deal with it ladies.
    6. Another ugly reality, the Clintons are dirty politicians.
    7. Hey Barack, enough with the Clinton appointees already.

  8. Hey, there's no f***ing way he should do that. Get some advice maybe but chosing Clinton would be his demise. Keep a clean slate and make his own choices. I thought we were going to go for something new. We'll support him.

  9. I truly applaud the idea of a team of rivals and Hillary should definitely be in the Cabinet but someone with foreign policy experience should be the Secretary of State. On this one, it should be someone that Biden respects, if not always agrees with.

  10. There is sooooo much baggage with Hilary Clinton and her husband would be such a loose cannon. Don't do it!
