Lincoln Memorable

Since Glenn Beck's 8/28 Rally was such a huge success, does that mean he's now a greater man than Martin Luther King. Or just as great?

Chip Saltsman's "Barack the Magic Negro" CD Not What Republicans Wanted for Christmas

Tennessean Chip Saltsman, who's angling to be chair of the Republican National Committee, decided to make an impression on party officials by mailing them a present: a comedy CD (or "comedy" CD) that includes a little ditty called "Barack the Magic Negro."

And oh, what an impression he made…

"I am shocked and appalled," Mike Duncan, the current party chairman, said in a statement released Saturday. Mr. Duncan is competing for a second term against Mr. Saltsman and four others.

"This is so inappropriate that it should disqualify any Republican National Committee candidate who would use it," Newt Gingrich, a Republican former House speaker, said in an e-mail message.

I never thought I'd say this, but Newt Gingrich is right.

It is terribly inappropriate for a political leader to circulate a song that's secretly about drugs.

  1. The term was coined by the LA Times, and this song by Paul Shanklin plays off of that. It's even a line in the song. The parody is a statement about how the media coverage of Obama was overwhelmingly positive despite Obama's inexperience and questionable acquaintances.

  2. Flush the Racist Fatman lived in his ooze…and wallowed in his sea of pills washed down by tanks of booze…Flush the Racist Fatman…chomped his cigar…and bellowed at the microphone…another nasty slur.

    Take that, you bastid.

  3. I think that our politics and our politicians have grown slimier over the years – "politically correct" is now an oxymoron. Just the thought that some imbecile in 2008 is still talking like it's 1858 is pathetic and makes me ashamed. I've seen enough of Republicans for a good many years after this years campaign. Let's all pray for Obama so that one of these "crazies" doesn't decide to make a name for himself.

  4. It took a hell of long time for Republican "leaders" to express respect for the concept of "politically correct."

  5. Chip Saltsman comes up with a racist ditty about Obama. Bill Bennett says there would be less crime in New Orleans if more black babies were aborted. And Republicans wonder why they can't get more minority votes.

  6. Hey, the election is over. IT's now open season for the right (and the left) to start pecking Obama to death and making whatever nasty jokes they can about him.
