Long Suffering Minority of Conservative Celebrities Finally Get Voice

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

California must be a difficult place for a certain minority of people to live.

Despite the fact that the environment and atmosphere should, in so many respects, be tailored specifically toward their lifestyle choice, they've certainly have seemed to be getting the short end of the stick lately.

Luckily, there are a few people who aren't afraid to back down. Who refuse to remain closeted. Who are defiantly shout into the air, "We're here! We're conservative celebrities! Ge used to it!"

Andrew Breitbart, the conservative founder of Breitbart.com and author of "Hollywood Interrupted: Insanity Chic in Babylon," is launching a Web site he hopes will help challenge the status quo in what he believes has been a one-party, left-tilting town.

Set to debut on Jan. 6, "Big Hollywood" will be a place where center, right and libertarian-leaning celebrities and industry-insiders can weigh in on Hollywood politics, offer film, television and movie reviews, and have an open forum for political discussion.

How interesting! I wonder which movie stars we can expect to come forward as conservatives…

…celebrities like Jon Voight, Gary Sinise, Charlton Heston, Patricia Heaton, Stephen Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer…

Isn't that the same list of right-leaning celebrities we see paraded around every few weeks as if it means something? Anybody a little more… not lame?

Recently, there have been rumors that Robert Downey Jr. is a closet Republican…

Robert Downey, Jr.? Really???

…though his publicist will neither confirm nor deny it, saying only, "We unfortunately have no comment, as RDJ does not comment on political matters."

Oh.

But Breitbart says the goal of Big Hollywood is not to "out" conservative celebrities, and he will not pressure celebrities like Downey to jump into the fray. He says conservative celebs who aren't comfortable with full transparency will be allowed to write under an alias.

"I want them to come on their own volition," he says.

I hope, for their part, that all these conservative celebrities do "out" themselves. Otherwise, they'll never overcome decades-old stereotypes about them.

Like, that they don't exist.

Also, I think it's healthy for democracy to have a semi-equal number of idiots saying idiotic things about things they have no idea about at all on both sides.

  1. P.S. I stole that from an old S.A.T. before analogies were banned.

  2. This must be some other Robert Downey Jr. Because the Robert Downey Jr. I’ve heard of is a cocaine fiend who gets checked into rehab every 2 years.

  3. If Robert Downey, Jr. is a closet Republican, J. Edgar Hoover must have been a straight Democrat who lived for coke and biting ankles.

  4. Finally, a web site that will tell us just exactly who are rich, famous, and intend to stay that way.
